Subbi: My my, GOG really has a very committed fan-base....even on price there's no discussion ;-) I do agree that most games on GoG are priced reasonably. If anything the recent Kickstarter explosion has shown us that you can't ask 40 dollars anymore for a new adventure game. Such price policies are only viable for AAA titles. Most digital Kickstarter games offered the full game (digital/DRM free) at 15-20 dollar price. I think this is reasonable and consistent with the price decrease on digital music vs the old fashioned CD's. This also means that an older game does further decrease in price, no matter the quality of the game in the same way older music tracks are also cheaper than recent ones. It's simply good business sense to drop the price of an older game (+6 years for Dreamfall now) to 10 dollars or less. Most other games on this site are priced accordingly, so why not Dreamfall. Looking at the best selling lists, Dreamfall is in the bottom half....I wonder why? Could it be also price related?
I really don't see how a game's genre has any bearing on it's status whether or not it's a "AAA title". Please, do enlighten me as to what consists of a AAA title? I am genuinely curious what you have to say.
Digital games are generally tend to be much cheaper due to not having to produce packaging for the individual units, that really doesn't have anything to do with the game itself. CDs really aren't THAT old fashioned; if you want old fashioned look at Records (especially old 78s). Not all digital music is cheaper than their physical counterparts, while that is true for some, it isn't for all.
Older games don't always decrease with age; case in point System Shock 1 and 2, Valkyrie Profile, Thousand Arms, etc. Older music isn't always cheaper, considering I have had to pay upwards of 70-120 dollars for some CDs and Records of music due to them being out of print because of their age.
While it is nice when games become a bit cheaper, it really isn't something that should be expected as the developers really have more say since they can refuse to permit GOG to sell their games. If you really wish to get this game, like others have stated, it'd be best to wait for a sale. As the old saying goes "good things come to those who wait".
Well while Dreamfall is an awesome game; one shouldn't pin the sole reason for it's lack of sales to be price. There are a lot of other factors, such as people putting money into other things like mortgages, food, rent, etc... or simply it's not their type of game.
Take what you will from what I have said, I'm not trying to convince you to change your view, just voicing mine.
