Omerta is a rule or code that prohibits speaking or divulging information about the activities of a criminal organization. However, since you--GOG gamers--are practically members of the family, our friends from Kalypso have decided to disclose some of the information about the upcoming gangster-sim set in 1920s Atlantic City. Mind you, they cannot reveal everything and their time is limited, but if you are wondering what the heck [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/omerta_city_of_gangsters]Omerta - City of Gangsters is all about, or want to know more about the secrets of Kalypso Media Digital, just shoot (ha ha ha).

We will select the ten best answers from the comments below and send them to the developers of Omerta - City of Gangsters. In addition to that, one of the commenters below (selected randomly) will receive a free copy of Omerta.
What makes your game so special/different that would entice someone like me to buy it; who only played the Tropico games from Kalypso?
Can you name a specific ganster movie that inspired you the most in the making of Omerta?
Since everyone else asked how the turn based combat is, compared with XCom: EU.

I'm asking instead: is your "Strategic real-time gameplay for planning coups, expanding your territory, extorting the competition, and bribing the authorities" somehow comparable with the "Commandos/Desperado"-Titles? Or how do I have to imagine that?
Sorry, if your Trailer answers that, but I'm unable to watch the Trailer, due to some "Content from UMG".

Oh, and is it only "open" shootouts with other gangs, or do we have the opportunity to assassinate other gangmembers "in silence" and let their Bodies disappear by giving them "concrete shoes".
How much micro-management will you need to have over your henchmen on missions? Do they have an AI that allows them to make their own pathfinding/attack/take cover decisions or will their every move have to be dictated by clicks?
Total control isn't a bad thing, but too much control can make it feel like the henchmen AI is dumb or non-existent. Granted, they are henchmen, not college graduates, but it would be nice to see some level of independent thought on display to make them feel like real characters and not just mindless pawns.
From watching your video trailer, I find my gangster sim desires quite piqued. But I have to wonde how you intend on implementing co-op MP functionality in your TBS. You say you are going to include both co-op and competitive MP with persistent gangs.

Am I going to be able to join my buddy's gang or will I bring my own squad to the table?
What's the resource management like? What resources do you have to manage other than just money?
Instead posting a question i will ask a few since this game piqued my interest.

Looking at steam description it says it have stealth action.
Is it going to be in battle like your hidden until they found you and/or you can use to give more information about your enemies?

Are we going to get options like Xcom:EU second wave to change our playstyle. Ex: Enemies starting with beter guns or more enemies aside from easy, normal, etc.

There will be cars?

And Last but not least.
There will be buildings that have passive bonus for your campaign? EX: +1 Hp for your gangsters.
Various questions about the game:
1) so there's way to influence construction of new buildings some way? meaning that there's way to add/change/demolish buildings in your town?
2) there's tactical combat missions for player's own gang? are there also other gangs (ai/player controlled) in towns or just cops&robbers?
3) multiplayer has all players gangs competing over same town? or each player has a "gangtown" which are pitted against each other? or maybe both..?

That's all from the top of my head, maybe answers are already out there but just didn't notice..
My bunch of questions to Omerta...

Will you release a Modkit/Editor for Omerta, so the players can create own missions/characters/places?

In witch buisinesses can you invest in Omerta? Alcohol, Drugs, Prostitution, Blackmailing, Corruption...?

Can you also become, as an member of the honorable society, a politican?
Does Omerta have a sandbox mode just like the tropico did before?
and more important is supporting mod, I can image the game will be awesome if it get a full mod editor
I have a feeling somebody may have asked this before me, but here goes!

What made you decide to make this game strategy based, rather than the more action oriented take many games with this plot style take?

Also.... How many Godfather references are in this? :P

(Yes I am aware The Godfather's setting is completely unrelated)
What other games is Omerta most similar to?
Hi guys. Three quick questions:

- Did you draw inspiration from the Boardwalk Empire TV series?

- Does Omerta play anything like Gangsters 1 or 2?

- Did you use the same engine utilized in Jagged Alliance Back In Action?

Look forward to hearing back.

Thanks, Jack

I have to say I like the look of what I've seen so far, but in the spirit of the thread that's in it, here are a few questions:

- Customisation: I gather that the various recruitable characters will each have their own specialities (various weapon types, hand to hand, etc). I saw a gameplay video in which someone had taken one character who specialised with a baseball bat and given him a shotgun instead. Will there be extensive character skills progression to make this viable? (I don't know if I'd prefer a yes or no here, just curious)

- Character death: If I mis-manage a mission, can I lose characters permanently as a result of them being killed (a la Jagged Alliance or XCom) or are they assumed to be injured and out of commision, to then be avialable in following missions (a la Freedom Force for example)?

- Modifications: Will the game be mod friendly? For a game like this the replay value can increase significantly where you have options to build very differnt types of teams. I gather there are about 18 characters in the game, which is a good number I acknowledge, but if this could be increased by modders (or subsequent patches I guess) that would be great. Similarly, it would be nice to have more options with respect to the main character.
Does Omerta plays like Commandos and Desperados series ? Or like old jacked alliance ones?
