Darvond: Not lacking. I just bought everything last year.

tinyE: ditto. XD
I don't mind but if the sale comes and goes and I don't get one daily deal offer that I don't already own I may have to get a little upset.
Like this one? :)

All of GOGs sales are lacking these days.Of course this probably has something to do with me already having bought all the games I want on GOG. :P

I find new releases much more exciting now.
Forgive my shameless plug, but looking at the past two sales one can see that many of the promo bundles tend to carry over.

The deals are still very good, but for some people who have been on GOG awhile, they may have bought most of these games already, so there isn't much else on daily promos that tempts them.
Got Pandemonium and the last three Might and Magics I needed on the cheap, won't complain too much.

I do wish the discount presents would look at your account inventory, agreed, or at least that one of my handful of still-wants turns up, but there's plenty of potential dailies left, and if I don't get everything on my wishlist added to my backlog now, big stinkin' deal, that's what future sales and weekend deals for for.

You now get a re-roll chance if you already own a game you're offered - keep an eye to spot it tomorrow.

I saw that button earlier today, but clicked it and nothing happened. Then it was gone later when I checked again, so I guess the feature wasn't quite ready yet.
So many whiners in this thread. Ridiculous.
It's fine in the, hey everything is half off and if there has been anything you wanted but refused to pay full price for now is the time sort of way.

In comparison to last years sale it isn't as strong an offering. Last year there was the same 50% off situation, but it seemed like there were more simultaneous bundles, and ones of more interest(which is wildly subjective I know) I feel like each day also had a handful of single shot titles at over the 50% mark. So Unless I'm remembering it wrong there is a little less going on this time around. Of course we also just recently got two other sales sweeps that were a bit out of the ordinary, so maybe they needed to tone it down just a wee bit.

It's not hugely different, but I will say it does feel a little less inspired than some past sales. I don't know that it's worth getting worked up over.
In my eyes this winter sale is much better than the last year's one. Last year most of the catalogue was 50% off (like this year) and we only got one bundle per day (with all bundles revealed after a few days) . This year we have the recommended deal, a bundle and the surprise boxes every day and we can vote on the next day's bundle.

No need to complain as far a I'm concerned.

I don't have personal experience with this new feature as I've yet to receive a game that I already own. Someone posted that if you got the re-roll option but closed the page or logged out and back in without using it, it wouldn't appear again - maybe it's a bug, but it could also be by design, as in "if you don't re-roll you're ok with the first offer you got".
There are still plenty of days left to test it :-)

Hmm yea I'm not sure. It came back after I posted, tried it, didn't work. Came back an hour later and the "re-roll" text was gone. Logged out and in again, still gone. I think the GOG bears are getting high! ;)

It's not terribly important, but it'd be nice to try out the re-roll and get what I really want - Jack Keane 2. :p

jamyskis: That's the thing. The heavy discounting of many of the games on Steam is due to their being crap and hence selling like crap. While the market on the whole punishes crap games with crap sales, you will get outliers where good games don't see the deserved success and where bad games sell more than they really should have.
I disagree completely. Most good games do get a deep discount as well, there's no such distinction (good games don't get discounts, crap games do). Unless you seriously expect me to believe that Borderlands, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City are "crap games" (all of these titles have already received a discount of 75% or more in Steam sales). Heck, even Morrowind got a 75% discount in one of the last sales. How is it a crap game? I bought System Shock 2 on Steam for 2 dollars (75% discount + cheaper brazilian prices). I have never seen System Shock 2 go below 50% here on GOG, correct me if i'm wrong.

The only famous games that i know of that almost never get a very good discount are Arma 2 (because of the popularity of DayZ), Skyrim and COD.

jamyskis: The Steam Summer and Autumn sales were very meagre as well, and I don't expect that the Christmas Sale there will be much better either.
Now that i agree with. The last Steam Summer sale was quite disappointing and i'm not getting my hopes up for the Christmas Sale either.

But GOG's winter sale is being quite decent in my opinion. It's far from being the best GOG sale, but it's not bad either. The only problem i have is with the daily surprise: i always get a game that i already own. I think it should at least filter out the games that you own. There are games in the Timeless Classics line-up that i'm interested in, but i just can't get them at that random surprise.

So aside from the mystery deal issue, what else could GOG have done to make this one better? (ignoring the build a bundle concept some seem to keep going on about in various threads)

snip
System Shock 2:
-- was the GOG Classic Gem Promo on Sep 9 with a 75% discount ($2.49);
-- was in the Insomnia Sale with a 80% discount ($1.99);
-- is a Timeless Classic Daily Surprise with a 75% discount ($2.49).

I stand corrected then.
