The game is out on Steam, see here, and it looks gorgeous. I truly hope that this is the modern Master of Magic it claims to be :)
This looks good. This looks VERY good.
Looks like the type of game I love to play. Is it coming to GOG?

I usually don't practice necromancy, but it is coming to GoG! It's under the upcoming tab on the main page although it doesn't have its own page yet. The release date is in a few days on March 19th. Hopefully it will show up here then.

I'm really looking forward to it being a big fan of Master of Magic myself.

It only takes five picks of Death; given how useful those zombies are, it seems a no-brainer for the slower armies like Dwarves.

Seriously, though - Worlds of Magic is really fun. If you liked Master of Magic, you might find a lot to enjoy in WoM.

Looking forward to seeing it here. Master of Magic never did get the sequel it deserved. This could be the next best thing.
I look forward to see it here! I love this kind of games. MoM is still unique.
HoM&M, AoW, Disciples... they are all good, but MoM is still unique.

Anyone cares to suggest more good games of this kind?

Lords of Magic is similar though fairly average.

MoM *will* be unique, but there are quite a few games out there that offer good gameplay. The two that are closest to MoM, for me, (obviously aside from Worlds of Magic, which I've put an embarrassing amount of time into already through alpha and beta), are not available on GOG - Fallen Enchantress (which is also the only one I've played with free city placement that tries to mitigate the "city spam to win" phenomenon), and Warlock: Master of the Arcane (but if you've never played the Warlock series, and if the second one is available for cheap, you may as well start there). Other really good strategy games, though more in the vein of HoMM and such, would include , [url=http://www.gog.com/game/sid_meiers_alpha_centauri]Alpha Centauri, Master of Orion 2 / games, and, if you don't mind losing city management entirely, the [url=http://www.gog.com/game/kings_bounty_crossworlds_goty]King's Bounty series, as well as Fantasy Wars and its un-obvious sequels, the (not on GOG) Elven Legacy games.

All excellent games, I replay them constantly, onefiercepuppy is the king!
Well Warlock have one glaring negative regarding MoM play alikes. No tactical battles as in 1UPT. That one feature made me bored with it rather fast. No I'm not a fan of 1UPT.

Oh yes, I have that one, but I haven't played it yet. I forgot about it.

So, Worlds of Magic will be worth it, then.
What about Elemental: War of Magic? Is it really nor worth it? Nothing is lost in jumping straight into Elemental: Fallen Enchantress?
Warlock: Master of the Arcane also seems neat! I hope both appear in GOG one of these days.

Thank you for your suggestions. I have added the ones I miss to my wishlist.

Please forgive my ignorance. I looked up "1UPT" and it seems to mean "one unit per tile". Why do you dislike this system? I have not played a game of this sort with one unit per tile, but it seems that, if done properly, could be fine.

I like Stardock games, I really do. I preordered Elemental: WoM, collector's edition, and played it on release. It was downright disappointing. No studio can make only good games, and Elemental was Stardock's flop. Fallen Enchantress was their way of making the game that Elemental should have been. In fact the story of FE acts like Elemental never happened.

Skip Elemental; Fallen Enchantress is better in almost every way.

This is one I've wanted to play for a long time - since Paradox signed here I've had my hopes up week in and week out!

(In all those "Which games have you skipped due to DRM," FE is always near the top of my very short list so I've had my fingers crossed!)

Fallen Enchantress isn't Paradox, though. Is it? It's Stardock - Paradox could get Warlock here, but not FE, I think. Unless you're fairly dogmatic about being anti-Steam, you can pick it up cheap, and it works in offline mode indefinitely (well...for two years and counting at least).
