idbeholdME: No idea, as the expansion is not included in any digital releases. If you use the Steam guide to get it working, you can play it, but the framerate becomes horrendous.
The base DS 2 release everywhere (Steam, GOG etc.) is fine. I even have the retail box of DS 2 and that is fine too. Sadly, I don't have a Broken World box, so can't check if the issue was present from the onset, or it's because of something in the BW files from the guide. From my tests, the issue comes from the .exe file included in the guide. No idea if it's identical to the original BW release or changed in some way by modders. But I suspect yes, because the vanilla .exe's can be a little problematic to get working in fullscreen and at proper resolutions. This works fine with the guide .exe, but it almost seems as if they broke something at a fundamental level.
The game behaves strangely. As you load into the game with BW, the FPS is fine. But once you start moving and more map sectors load, the FPS quickly deteriorates to the 25-30 range and stays there forever. This happens within a minute or two, or instantly if you teleport somewhere. Without BW, the FPS stays smooth and stable.

Also have DS2 and DS3 with DLC on both Steam and GOG - so, I should go check these out.
I do remember DS1, DS2, and Space Siege have so many problems w/ full-screen from retail - so it's best to run in Windowed Mode for the in-game settings AND use Borderless Gaming App (just configure any games to be moved to Right Pane so it uses BLG's psuedo-fullscreen feature).
EDIT - Did anyone say try and Older DXWrappers or DXVK on DS1/DS2? I know DXVK does wonder for other games, like Far Cry 1 (kills a lot of stutter problems) and especially GTA4 (HUGE performance boosts, especially on newer Nvidia RTX 3xxx series GPU's and above b/c it can actually utilize the hardware and no VRAM limits).
Lovstrelfra: Mirror's Edge. I've played the game once before, and decided to go at it again now using the GOG version. Also, the game is still as good as the last time I played it. It just sucks that the GOG version doesn't come with the pure time trial pack tho, which is Origin exclusive from what I've read from the internet (which is also why I only choose to get the game when it's discounted).
Did you try this mod, which puts it back into the game? Time Trials Mod - https://www.moddb.com/games/mirrors-edge/addons/pure-time-trail-map-pack-steam-players1
