The game I'm playing is keeping 2 people sane enough so I can actually play a game on PC

Both goto sleep at about MIDNIGHT which gives me exactly 0 time to play games but I take 4 hours and die the next day anyway lately others have been stopping me playing!

I bought some computer parts from a friend a few days ago that was upgrading his computer(which I helped build); I usually buy his stuff as it's always much newer than mine but since it's slightly older than brand new components it's more supported in the Linux(Debian) side of things. So basically I'm running a AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (non-x) now instead of the ancient AMD FX-8350 - which honestly did/play most* of what I wanted but with Cyberpunk 2077 coming out soon I wanted a good experience with running it.

Rising Storm 2: Vietnam
This was one of the games I really liked but I couldn't get steady framerates on the FX-8350; enjoying it it a lot now - really enjoy the Green Army Men maps as well.

Path of Exile
Outside of small internet lag problems the game runs great! Getting close to the end of the campaign in story mode for this season - hopefully I manage to get the helmets achievement rewards before it ends.

Might try to play some Deus Ex: Mankind Divided soon since my system can run it now.
Continuing with Caesar 3 after a very long break. Feels like I'm home
Pathfinder: Kingmaker

I needed some proper D&D after trying a disaster called "Baldur's Gate 3".
Tyranny.

Took a bit of getting used to, you really need to read the dialogue as nearly every sentence has ramifications and you won't know the ramifications until after you say something. It really needs something to let you know that you will incur Wrath, Loyalty, Fear etc. Before you make the damn choice.
But it is very good.
Civilization VI

The diplomacy is broken as usual. The whole world hates me. When some leaders try to mess with me, I make them pay dearly. Then the rest of them are mad. It won't matter. They all are gonna submit to my rule and only then there will be peace.
Playing the Steins;Gate visual novel, I heard so many good stuff about it, but I actually thought it was a serious piece of fiction, but there's actually a lot of comedy and references to otaku culture and such, which I like actually.
I've also recently finished Legend of Heroes Trails in the Sky, I went in completely without any expectations and was completely blown away by how good of a JRPG it's, and I'm usually not a fan of JRPGs. Now I'm excited to buy the second game in the franchise and play that too.
I am playing Sudoku, Call of Duty, CS, GTA
RAGE

Great first person shooter, but also a really subpar open world action adventure game and a very mediocre combat racing game.

It's kinda sad because the FPS part is so good. The guns feel great to shoot, there's an huge variety of weapons and ammo types. The enemy AI is dynamic and varied, different enemy types feel really different thanks to the way they move around. The level design is linear but the levels are fun to play and look amazing.

But then they make you walk around in lifeless towns filled with signpost NPCs. And then they make you compete in combat races that just suck. And before they let you go back to shooting stuff, they make you listen to boring characters with no real personality delivering the most uneventful, inconsequential story exposition.

The way the story is told in this game makes no sense. There is no conflict. You have no reason to do anything. There is no twist. In fact, to say this game has a plot would be very generous. BUT nonetheless there is tons of voice acting. It's the strangest thing. They probably spent hundreds of thousands of dollars in actors, recording studio hours, etc., but nobody was able to point out the fact the story was nonexistent.

Not only that, but it feels like whomever wrote those dialogue lines never watched a Mad Max or any other relevant post apocalyptic wasteland movie. In RAGE, almost all the characters are nice, true to their word, good, reliable people. Among non-hostile NPCs, there is one who could be described as evil. In the entire game. Set in a post apocalyptic wasteland where everybody is scrounging to survive.

And let me say something about the racing. There are four modes: time trial, no guns racing, combat racing and rally points. So yeah, it's a combat racing game with no deathmatch mode in the single-player campaign. That should be indicative of the fact the developers didn't know what they were doing. Now get this: the best strategy to win the combat racing challenges is exactly the same as time trial and no guns racing. Ignore the guns, race as fast as you can abusing the boost and you'll quickly build enough of an advantage that enemy guns won't even target you. Rally points is different, but it's the worst of the bunch. Because every level is wide open and it's so easy to be faster than the other cars, it makes no sense to go after all the rally points. Instead, just sticking to a "circuit" in which you can reliably get two or three points in a row is enough to get you the win every time.

I feel like the game would've been better with everything but the FPS levels removed. If it was just a series of FPS levels with a store menu in between. It's a 8 or 9/10 FPS bogged down by a bunch of poorly designed garbage.
Bard's Tale 1 DOS:
Just won a certain battle involving Demon Lords and Vampire Lords. The fight was rather rough, and I had many characters killed or petrified during the fight (and there's no spell to cure petrification), but I did mange to win and get that 300,000 XP bonus.

There was another enemy in the fight, but it died rather quickly.

Now to re-play the Apple 2gs version and compare.
Just killed nearly 1,200 Berserkers for their XP.

(1,188 of them, to be exact.)

Also, version difference: In the DOS version, if you reach the encounter from behind and run away, you are sent to the square (inside the room) that you came from. In the Apple 2GS version, on the other hand, you are instead sent outside the room, even though you were inside the room before. (I don't know how the remaster handles this situation.)
I've started playing Dragon age: Origins. Did the Circle of magi...the Fade was pretty annoying (though the shape-changes were somewhat fun admittedly). Am not overly impressed by the game so far, quest design is pretty lame, not many interesting choices so far. And buying gifts so your companions will like you? Who comes up with such ideas?
Will still attempt to finish it, since the story is kind of interesting.
Just decided to try the Famicom Disk System version of Super Mario Bros. 1, which is identical to the NES version in normal gameplay.

And I got the minus world glitch to work! (I did use a save state, however.)

As a warning, the minus world in this version of the game is rather treacherous. Specifically:
* In world 36-1, if you hit the goal too high, you won't hit the ground, and the game will softlock with you having no control.
* In world 36-2, if you die after the mid point, you will fall to your death immediately on respawn. At this point, you have no choice but to lose all of your lives.
* In world 36-3, if you take the wrong path later in the level, you will reach a dead end and be unable to progress. Because the game doesn't let you scroll backwards, you have no choice but to wait for time to run out, unless there's still an enemy on screen from earlier. (Also, watch out for bloopers, which are out in force in this level; fortunately, you can stomp them since it's not a water level.)
I'm still playing Dragon age: Origins. Pretty underwhelming in many ways, Denerim is probably the lamest city in any crpg I've ever seen. And lol at the romances...much cringeworthier than in Baldur's Gate 2. I'm playing as a female mage and have romanced Alastair...had intercourse with him, later Leliana asked me about his performance, lol. I have to admit I find it entertaining in a strange way, but definitely shows that romances may not be a good idea for crpgs.
