**** Transmission Lost ****

I enjoyed the game but sort of started to burn out (there are A LOT of missions! And each one is actually pretty long - huge maps).

I got to the mission that says you "can't go back" - the transmission tower one. How much further along do I have to go? If I go back to it that is.

Feel free to PM me if you don't want to spoil (or if you want me to PM you more details).
Can't stop playing Dwarf Fortress. Send help.
I never wanted to support Blizzard's always online play with Diablo 3 and held out forever, but I literally found it for $5 in a Walmart clearance bin, and figured what the hell for that price. So far the game is enjoyable, mainly because of mood and style to be honest. I've never been a big fan of clicky-loot games, so my opinion doesn't count for much, but it seems like "one of those" with very well done graphic and sound design, which is what I expected.

I chose a female wizard and she has a cool cocky attitude I enjoy, and her frost beam blows stuff up real good. It's enjoyable.

Still also playing Pathfinder: Kingmaker, but it's becoming slow going because the game is way too long and my enthusiasm wanes. It's a great game though, once you get past some quirks and design decisions I'm not a huge fan of.
GTA IV on PS3

I own the PC version but that version had so much stuttering it made the game unplayable so I had to go with the PS3 version instead. It's a good game but those no-mission checkpoints can be a bitch to get through. It's not really a hard game but the mission objectives are not always clear and if you fail or your companion dies then it can lead to a reload and another 10 minutes of pointless driving.

I'm glad I played the original in the early 90s... The insert disk... joke only worked back then! ;-)

Back on Mars... Doom 3
Quite enjoying Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy right now.
I know some people automatically associate gameplay length with value, but Pathfinder: Kingmaker is waaaaay too long of a game.

I wanted to like this game so badly. I really enjoyed the combat and characters. It was fun sending my guys out on "missions" and finding new rulers for my council. I couldn't WAIT to build my kingdom from small village to ruling city while reaching out beyond my borders to take new territory.

But in the end the game was just a chore. I couldn't figure out how to "manage time" - the fatigue mechanic was infuriating - I WANTED to be out and about in the world exploring to pass time, but I'd have to sleep constantly. And when I DID explore I became encumbered because my guys took HUGE hits to the stats needed to carry your loot home.

I had to keep crossing borders when I was travelling so I could assign tasks back home, or "waste" precious days and incur penalties to failed quests - all the while my party would again get tired, again lose CON and again be encumbered LOL.

When I learned the game was a 90 hour slog I thought no way can I do this - I'm getting aggravated a week in - which is a shame because I LOVED the game that was buried in there.

But they really managed to make fatigue and time flow management into something that ruined what could be a great game. I joked that it felt like a resting sim with an RPG and kingdom management side game.

Thing is there are simple solutions to most of your issues, but the game never explains anything so you have to Google if you want to learn them. Some people think this is "old school" but really it's just annoying, and turns people like yourself off the game.

Anyway... if you buy bags of holding and keep your encumbrance at "light" then you don't need to rest that much at all really. Later on you build teleporters to bounce around the map. The stat damage is easy to get rid of with a restoration scroll, which the priests sell. The kingdom quests you really need to do can be figured out through context clues. I do hate the timer because it makes the game feel linear, but overall it basically just means "do the main quests first." As long as you do you'll get lots of exploration time between major missions, while you wait for new developments.

All this should have been explained in a tutorial and signaled better in the game would, and then the game would have a ten times better reputation. It's a bummer they took a weird "figure it out yourself" path. Places like RPG Codex love them for it though, so... who knows.

Also it's way longer than 90 hours. I'm at like 120 and have a whole chapter left.
