Deus Ex Human Revolution Director's Cut

PS3

I played Human Revolution on PC back in the day but when I tried to play Director's Cut version on PC it had huge micro-stutter issues that made it unplayable. So now I'm playing my PS3 version that runs great and doesn't look too bad. Aiming and controlling inventory is not as good as on PC obviously but what can you do when the PC version runs like hot garbage?

Ixamyakxim: They *seem* expensive at first, but the game is just HUGE - you get your stronghold very early on - as you move along in the story you'll be able to build it out with less pressure on resources. I really enjoyed the game despite its length. And the ending story is just great - the "story" in most of the game is sort of... background. You learn about this world and sort of have an idea about the villian / forces at work but it's not really personal... until it is. I had put in enough time that I never felt the need to do The White March but the base game was more than enough for me to enjoy.
I know......but I wanted/want to have as many abilities/things open to me as possible(via people/quests/tasks gained via upgrades & things like the prisoner cells) as soon as possible from the get go. Luckily(as I said) I had done a major mission and had resources to build the dungeons/warden's house(got the tasks even though I cannot do them atm)/general store/weapons&armor store/some security upgrades like walls&such/etc.

Also lucky is that the endless paths seem to have some good(non quest I mean) loot I can sell for extra cash that I won't need(I keep some of it, though).

Ixamyakxim: I'm actually juggling TWO games that are very good. I was having a blast in Technomancer when Mechanicus went on sale... I regretted not grabbing that one on release here so it was a no brainer. I couldn't resist firing it up "just to play a couple missions and check it out..." with the idea of going back and forth between the two... but it totally sucked me in. Fun game for reasons I can't quite explain. There's something really entertaining about tricking out my little Tech-Priests with new gear, armor and abilities.

I *think* tonight I might finally go back to Technomancer before I forget how to play ;)
Gotta play Technomancer myself(and buy it) after I finish Mars: War Logs.....which seems to also be a decent game.

Just a head's up: *semi-spoiler* They made it so that ALL endings don't matter when playing the sequel, if you ever choose to play that as well.

Neverwinter nights 2: Mysteries of Westgate.

First thing I've played in Neverwinter nights 2 (will have to see if I play the original campaign, it's supposed to be pretty bad after all), and so far it's surprisingly fun, a neat little adventure module with a lot of nice ideas. Reminiscent of Baldur's Gate 2 in some ways, though the quest design is actually even somewhat better imo, with more choices and consequences.

That was my next game and for PS4 so the fact that I'm playing HR on PS3 does kinda fit. I plan to play through all the Deus Ex games in chronological order so: HR, MD, The Fall, Deus Ex, IW.

It's sad that they had to forego all endings to HR but it actually doesn't bother me that much.

The endings are there and are different(cutscenes/etc), but in the next game all of them have the same outcome due to devs wanting to make everyone feel special or some such.

Also play them but know they might spoil things if played in that order(some stuff from the older games is mentioned in the newer "prequels").

Thanks for the heads up about the endings but I have played and finished all of the Deus Ex games aside from The Fall and Mankind Divided so this is more of a trip down memory lane for me. Deus Ex 1 and HR are the best but I haven't played IW in about 10 years so I'm looking forward see to how good or bad that game REALLY is.

Edit: a word

Honestly, I liked what I played of it. It has some crap like universal ammo(so run out and most guns if not all are out of ammo), multitools are easy to find everywhere it seems, inventory is limited,(more so than the first game), and a few other things as well.....BUT it was still fun for me(the intro/plot/characters/music[especially in the club in the starting areas]/etc).

BTW if you want more challenge free/hire the female pilot. If you want easier mission start spots free/hire the dude pilot. If you get both it auto defaults to the dude every time. And be careful what stuff/areas you do and when, as some stuff affects other stuff and if it can be done or not later on.

Have fun, at any rate. :)

(Aside: Did you free the people from the bomb in HR? I am a slow completionist so I dikked around in the HQ and lost em and had to redo that bit quickly, which sucked)

Yes, I just ran in there and hacked the bomb and stopped it from blowing up. I do RP my Jensen as a cold mercenary ex-cop type that gets the job done but doesn't give a shit about "collateral damage". Kinda fun rather than being the goody-two-shoes type that my first Jensen was.
The "Broken Spears" mission in AOE2 might take me a while to beat. The AI's cheapness factor has been turned up to 11 yet again, so the fact that my starting base is huge and well-stocked doesn't really count for much. Just surviving the first naval assault took a few tries (lacking Galleons and gunpowder units sucks). To make things even more interesting, I'll need to hop to a small northern island to mine more gold. Therefore, can you guess where the Spanish navy is going to strike next?

I can't wait for this bloody campaign to be over.

Sounds similar to most action heroes(well they don't WANT to cause that damage, but is often comes with the territory/their way of doing things :)).
More Dark Souls II. I bested Executioner’s Chariot on my first try—a proud moment considering I died to this boss over a dozen times on my first playthrough. Huntsman’s Copse was quickly cleared, and the Skeleton Lords fell pretty easily. I killed the rightmost Lord first, and I’m going to assume that was the most aggressive of the three because the other two didn’t pursue me with much interest. Another boss I killed on my first try.

The name of the next location escapes me, but it’s the Something Valley and has a lot of poison in it. Not a particularly interesting area not a particularly fun area to traverse, but I got through it with little difficulty. But dang, Earthen Peak? I discovered that I really hate those manikin guys. They are a pain in the butt. At least the boss of the area was pretty easy.
The free version of Hedon.
I just completed AOE2's Joan of Arc campaign. I shall celebrate this historic feat with a rant. But don't worry; it's greatly condensed compared to the 7+ thick paragraphs I almost posted last night.

"A Perfect Martyr" may be the balls-kickingly cheapest (if not hardest) excuse of a mission AOE2 or any other RTS has thrown at me to date. To call it an unfair fight would be a gross understatement, because it takes the game's usual unfairness and dials it past freakin' eleven. I won't bog you down with all the details (they're too numerous), but let's just say the odds are overwhelmingly stacked against you from the beginning. If you're not careful, your decent starting army will get absolutely shredded by enemy Longbowmen and a literal horde of siege units. And to make things worse, following the hint section's recommended strategy will most likely lead to an unwinnable situation on Hard. Maybe it's not as impossible on an easier difficulty, but on Hard, that one hint is downright misleading. I'm not ashamed to admit that I had to consult a few online walkthroughs to point me in the right direction. Two solutions I found didn't work, so I suspect they were for a lower difficulty. Fortunately, another strategy eventually proved successful. Unlike "The Rising", it's not easy to cheese this mission by removing an opponent early on. Each of the three AI players start off armed to the teeth, so you'll invest an enormous amount of time and effort microing and kiting. That is not fun, especially when the AI has a ridiculous amount of Onagers and other siege units.

I enjoyed the tragic story of Joan of Arc as told by this campaign, but damn, I won't be replaying it on Hard ever again.
I was hoping to finish Corpse Party last night, but as it is, it looks like I'll probably finish it this weekend.
That reddevil5 spam post... -_-

As not to spam the thread myself, mostly old FPS games with self-imposed challenges. Blood on random map pitchfork starts, etc. I want to start something more substantial but I know I'm not going to have the time to devote to it currently.
