After playing 47 hours of Shadowrun: Dragonfall I thought I wouldn’t play another huge game again, but then I felt the need to throw more spells and gather more loot, so I installed The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut. Initial impressions is that it’s got a lot of things going for it, but the opaque minimap in the top right corner is bothersome. You can’t zoom out enough to make it a non-issue, can’t move the camera and early in the game the roads are so narrow and designed in such a way that the minimap blocks as much as it possibly can. Enemies attack in hordes and I don’t have many fun skills yet, so it’s not very fun to kill them, but thankfully your constant NPC companion gets their attention and kills several of them (might adjust the settings so she is less of an enemy beacon later on).
Mr.Mumbles: Motherfucking bullshit game design. So I'm in one of the last big battles in PoP: Sands of Time, and the never-ending onslaught of sand demons is just pure shit design especially since it's easy to get surrounded without ability to move around or worse yet Farah gets ganged up on ... and while trying to protect her it's easy to kill her instead - why, yes, friendly damage is like totally the best idea ever! - due to some of the worst auto focus. Whoever designed this arena fight needs to be fucking smacked. GAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!
So many modern games would become better with God Mode. So many tedious and plain bad game mechanics could become bearable with God Mode. I try to find mods to iron out tedious things, but that's not always possible.
