Finished a few games the past few days, so that's something.
Decided to play through Inside before trying out Little Nightmares, and I still can't get over how much I love it. It's a major improvement over Limbo in terms of sound design, puzzles, and overall atmosphere. The only thing that bugged me was the ending (which kind of came out of left field), but that's pretty much it. I also learned that
the soundtrack was recorded using a human skull, so that's...interesting. Still my favorite game of 2016.
Also finished Little Nightmares during the weekend. It didn't really grab me the same way Inside did (despite doing a few similar things). There were a few physics issues with certain items you can hold or ledges/platforms you can grab onto, most puzzles were surprisingly easy (even with some of the instant death sequences and annoying checkpoint system), and certain objects/hazards were kind of hard to walk on/get past due to the camera. Looking past those things, the game is still pretty good. I also liked how you can hug the little Nomes you come across in each chapter.
And I finished Super Mario Run. It's something decent to pass the time (assuming you have an internet connection or mobile data since it's still online-only), but as a Mario game it's pretty bare bones. There aren't that many levels (or hell features) to really justify the cost of the game, the process of unlocking additional items/characters is a boring grind, and getting the colored coins (mostly the purple and black coins) involve some of the most infuriating platforming bits I've seen in a Mario game...so far. The music is catchy (then again the New Super Mario Bros series has a few catchy tunes I like), it controls just fine, and it looks good...so there's that.
Now I'm back to playing Breath of the Wild, and hopefully I will finish it this month.
