After completing Halo 2, and testing out a few newer games (very nice title music in Crysis 2, by the way), I got back to Dungeon Keeper: Deeper Dungeons extra missions.
Still stuck in the second(?) Deeper Dungeons extra mission, I think. I've been stuck in that for so long. Basically the problem is that the two enemy keepers are allowed to raise many more monsters than me, so how on earth exactly am I supposed to beat them? On head to head combat, their bigger army decimates mine.
But still, somehow I was able to beat one of them, the green Keeper. Ok so I send my army to him, and sure enough, I lose all my 15 precious 10th level monsters, but at least I am able to cause some losses to him too.
Then I just start spamming the enemy area by creating new 1st level imps, just because I happen to have loads of gold in reserve with no idea how else to spend it. While they die fast whenever they get into contact with the enemy 10th level monsters, somehow I am able to convert enemy rooms to my side one by one, as if the enemy doesn't care that much anymore even if I do that. Enemy monsters mostly just hang around their sleeping quarters while my feeble imps convert their rooms just next door. And before I know it, I am already next to their dungeon heart, so I can drop a few of my fresh 1st level monsters there to destroy it. Winnage!
But the other keeper still remains, and it seems to be harder (I think it can even create vampires, yikes!). Let's see if the same imp-spamming tactic works there. Probably not, I fear that lots of imp bodies in his quarters will just accelerate his vampire-production.
But god damn that game progresses slowly! Now I am waiting several hours (real time) just so that I can train my fresh recruits to 10th level, and amass 300000+ gold so that I can keep creating new imps and maybe some cave-in spells at the enemy monsters. It seems that 90% of the Dungeon Keeper gameplay is mere waiting! Is there some gameplay speed-up button I've missed? I don't think I saw one in the manual. The game would seriously need one.
Dang, I think I could play and finish Baldur's Gate on the side while I'm waiting for my Dungeon Keeper monsters to train and get enough gold...
