I've fallen into the trap of playing too much at once, not really finishing anything. I'm juggling games of Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights 2, Unepic, Oddworld: Abe's Exodus, Tex Murphy 4, Aquaria, Assassin's Creed, Mafia 2, Sribblenauts, and probably a few I can't remember right now.
I've been juggling several games. Thief Gold, Dark Souls NG+, and a couple days ago I had the really strong urge to be a Jedi, so I've also been playing Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, and Knights of the Old Republic. Oh, and Super Metroid, too.

tinyE: There was a History Channel thing on today about the Allied Special Ops during WWII and I've had my head buried into Commandos 1 ever since. Sad because with all these unplayed games I picked up over the holidays here I am playing something I bought when it was first released on disc and have won countless times.

wizardtypething: With the first Commandos I'm irritated that you only get the choice between your Commandos being completely silent and, "OI'M COMIN'!" "AHOKAY" "BLARNEY BLARNEY SHAMROCKS O'MALLEY!"
1st Commandos?! I had that problem with #2 as well. :D The only one who really got annoying was Lupin.

falster: In all fairness you could also say that although "rpg" is a label specific genre, all games in essence are an rpg. I mean you arent being yourself in game are you.... youre playing a role......

Just being a d*ck....... but its true. :)

Edited for spelling
Not sure on that one. To me, the idea of an RPG is to be able to add your own preferences into the mix and have the story change as a result. The idea of playing a role in other genres seems more like being a detached controller. The characters are going through their roles, either well or poorly based on how much the writers binge-drank during the process, and you're there to move them intact from plot point/set piece/cutscene to plot point/set piece/cutscene until the credits start rolling.

Edit - Currently playing Icewind Dale 1 & 2, Warhammer 40K Dark Crusade (only 6 more runs of that to go and then I never have to play it again thank god), The Cat Lady, and gearing up to start Legend of Grimrock, Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing and Season 1 of Sam & Max. Figured I should probably stick to the thread topic for once, at least partially.

ROFL, so true! It always irritated me in the English version, especially considering that it's supposed to be a stealth game. :D In the German version your guys actually talked like sane people, my mind was pretty blown when I tried the English version again years later.

KotOR 2. So far so good, except my attempt to use the restored mod content during play; wrecking my game at Dantooine Khoonda battle, I guess for not restarting with a new save file. Still I could not see any difference the few hours I've played, duh.. So i reinstalled the normal game and all is back in place..

I can't see the big downs that I've heard about this game, for now I've only encountered one bug at the Telos maiden base recycling a scene meeting the Jedi there, Atris, because of chosing "We mean you no harm" to handmaidens call to "down your weapons", I had to reload the auto-save for another answer. The other bug was from my part, for using the mod too late would cause it to also recycle a glitched scene and not starting the Khoonda battle.. Not the "mess" some are making it to "be" for sure, unmodded and cut content is cut, so we could not know anyway..

Feelings.. I prefered the first game crew and Bastila's presence, but I'm still just half way the second. The move from Bioware to Obsidian is not too obvious, the two games are very similar, even planets use the same visuals and some designs. I can just see a deeper range of choices and consequences in dialogs. The most I'm surprised is Obsidian delivering so much more of the same experience than other developers, not just the engine but I'm good with this way, as the frist was great!

1322: Is that a photoshooting simulator? Does it have a swim suit mode? :D

LinustheBold: I thought it was a military sim sim. You build a little model of a wargame.
Yeah, funny. :) A typo, of course I meant Medal of Honor.
Earlier I mentioned in here that I just started playing Heritage of Kings, but I don't know how long this is going to last. I just finished the 1st mission and this game is so bad it literally reaches out through the monitor and slaps you. I swear at one point during the mission my hero turned to me and said, "I can't believe you're actually playing this fucking thing!"

For a variation on that, give Puzzle Quest 2 a whirl. By the end of that, the game was telling me, "'I'm going to take your compulsive need to beat every enemy and HURT YOU with it. I will break your spirit, and you will uninstall me, just so you can come back to me years later and we can start it all over again."
Well, I decided to finally give my KS backer copy of Broken Age a try after finishing watching the latest documentary episode.

I enjoyed it for what it was even if the first half was quite short. It really makes me wonder where all that money went. Sure, it looks and sounds lovely... but ~4 mil (and probably more) for something like that? That really seems a tad ridiculous when you consider that some other adventure game studios can make just as good games with a lot less for their budget. *shrug* Anyway, I really enjoyed the story so far and it definitely was well set up for part 2. It certainly makes me wonder what's really going on there. Sadly, the puzzles are a cakewalk for even average adventure gamers.

Oh well. At least I had just as much fun watching the documentary (if not more so) as playing the game. I certainly can't complain for those measly $15 I threw their way for both.
Picked up Titan Quest - Immortal Throne from where I left. I had a hard time defeating the Minotaur Lord in the Knossos labyrinth, but with hints from walkthroughs I managed and could continue to the next boss and the next chapter.

So now I'm playing more than just Dragon Age.
Discovering SpaceChem right now - wonderful mind-bending game!
Couple of new ones:

AvP 1999 and AvP 2- Loving it. I usually only play as the predator because its my favorite movie though. I've also played some AvP 2010, but the campaign was really short.

Super Mario Bros 3- Good fun, and it improves my mediocre platformer skills.

Short campaigns is a sickness of modern games. The original Medal of Honor Allied Assault has a campaign worth maybe 100 hours of playplay, I'm still busy finishing it, having started a year ago or so. The Medal of Honor 2010 game's campaign was only 10 hours, which I finished in a couple of weeks.

I think it has to do with the richness of the graphics: if a map is so very detailed, it takes far longer to create one, so it gets too expensive in time and money to create maps to last the campaign for dozens of hours. If only the game industry didn't think graphics is the most important part of the game, but the gameplay itself.

*edit: I don't know what made me make up the word "mothern games", but it sure ain't english.

The main games I'm playing through right now are Deus Ex and Papers, Please. The Fallout series is next to go.
