Up to 75% off Freedom Planet, Guacamelee, FEZ, Shantae, and more!

We've been waiting four years to get a 29th of February, but now finally it's here! And what better way to celebrate Leap Day than by going, well, leaping. The occasion calls for some gravity-defying, platform-reaching, hyperkinetic action and that's why we've invited some leaping experts to show us their agile ways. And although it took some effort, we managed to keep the prices pinned to the ground and even knock them down a notch or three.

Ready to protect Freedom Planet from an alien warlord that is after its most precious artifact? It will require speed, agility, excellent reflexes, and some sassy attitude but there is a dragon girl and a wildcat who possess just the right set of skills for the job.

Unlockable characters, randomized levels, dozens of items, and enemies that grow stronger the longer you stay on their mysterious planet. There is also a Risk of Rain and permadeath involved but the hours of intense platforming action more than make up for it.

It has horns, a mean forehead, and a funky beard. No, it's not your mother-in-law, we're talking about Escape Goat here! Together with its immortal mouse friend they solve puzzles, avoid deadly traps, and use the intricacies of the environment to escape the most dangerous of strongholds.

Get your feet off the ground and jump sky-high for the long-awaited arrival of Leap Day! If need be, seek inspiration in excellent platformers like Guacamelee, FEZ, Shantae and the Pirate's Curse or just take a glance at their discounted prices. That should lift your spirits right up! The promo will last until March 04, 10:59 AM GMT.
Problem for me with this Indie games, I have them all elsewhere.... still, some good ones in here for those who don't have them yet! Happy Leap Day.

Hmm ... maybe I am wrong, but didn't Guacamelee have a Mac version?

The Gold Edition did. The version in the sale is the Super Turbo Championship Edition which does not (to my knowledge).

Of course, I could ask a question here: Does the STCE version of Guacamelee run in Wine? If it does, that would allow it to be played on a Mac (as well as on Linux).

If it does, is it worth buying if I already have the Gold edition (from a Humble Bundle)?

Aha, thank you.

So on GOG (and other places) there is this STCE edition:
https://www.gog.com/game/guacamelee_super_turbo_championship_edition

... and the Gold Edition:
https://www.gog.com/game/guacamelee_gold_edition

So, what is the difference (except, that in Gold edition you get the Mac+Linux version aswell)?

TCE has new content and better co-op functionality.

Store page:
Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition is a widely revamped version of the original Guacamelee!. Enjoy exploring two huge new levels, exploding into 'Intenso' power mode, and laying egg bombs as a chicken. You'll need every bit of power to dispatch a vicious new class of Elite enemies, a host of updated and rebalanced challenges in Normal and Hard modes, and the scheming new boss, El Trio de la Muerte.

Thank you, I somehow overlooked that information :(

EDIT: Also found this video on YouTube: What's Different? Gold vs STCE

Apparantly, enemies now have health bars in STCE, among other things.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I still wonder whether it's actually worth buying for me. I've only played a third of the original game; bought the Gold Edition via the Humble widget for $15 and was pretty disappointed when they offered Turbo Edition later, without any option for direct buyers to upgrade. You buy something called "Gold Edition" thinking it's a definite version, and having to buy a full game again afterwards in order to get an 'even more definite' version sucks. I realize this is almost like a different game from the perspective of the developers and that they put a lot of effort in it, but I don't like to replay games and I care more for story than for small adjustements to gameplay, and from a psychological point of view it's just discouraging to customers to make them buy the full game a second time, if they want all those small but slightly enticing changes and additions.

Then again, if they had sold two additional levels as a DLC at the current price, I'd probably have bought them, so ... I guess it's all just psychology.

On most of these the discount isn't interesting enough to add it to my backlog.
Nothing for me this time.

My thoughts exactly.
Great games in a genre that I like, but discounts aren't that good. I pass this time.
Geez, I had to google up Leap Day because I thought it was yet another Polish holiday :o)
