yea they are, fkrs :)

adaliabooks: I wonder if they've changed the avatars somehow? Like the ones the bots have are some kind of new default?

God knows why though unless they've done a mini forum overhaul along with tackling the spam bots...

Bookwyrm627: They might be testing their spam deletion software by first testing to make sure it finds spam threads and only spam threads. Just change the avatar of detected spam threads and manually look it over, without activating the delete portion of the code. I'm going to run a quick test to see what happens when a user creates a new thread.
That would make more sense. Hopefully they can implement whatever it is soon, stop the spam and return the forum to normal...
Oh hey, some of the bots now have avatars in the spam threads. Looks like just the avatar on the thread list page. Not all of them, yet, but several are getting that colored, different looking head.

Maybe it is Gog!

Edit: Oh! That might also be why the rest of us have the default avatar. It will be a LOT easier to pick the color out of the list when the real peeps are blank.

I suspect the different colors mean something, but I'm not sure what. It doesn't seem to be one color per country (UK has at least two different colors). Maybe it is one color per detected IP area?

Right now it's a real help for selecting the threads for my script.
They've breach the Avatar perimeter !!! Assume all-round defense positions !!!
I've been assigned an avatar that I haven't used in months, I wonder if they just went to an older version of the forums before the great spam invasion.
The "Bot avatars" seem to be in fact for all new users:

They must have as I recognize some of the avatars from around October of last year.
Yeah. They must be overhauling the account system or something to combat the bots... maybe going to get some colour in the forum too.

After the removed the color from the main page? Strange people...

Be very careful with assuming, though, because all new users get the same. See attached.

Yes, I've seen it. Even a user with join date 2008 and >1000 rep but "New User" tagline got the new avatar.
