We would like to inform you that, due to our storage and CDN provider's outage, we are encountering technical issues that may cause difficulties in downloading and updating your games both through the GOG GALAXY client and GOG Store. Already downloaded files are in no way affected.

We are trying to mitigate this external problem by switching to our secondary storage while our provider is restoring data. We would also like to highlight that those issues do not affect purchasing games. Currently available discounts on selected titles will not be extended due to the above.

It is our team's top priority to resolve those issues and we aim to resolve them as fast as possible. Apologies for any inconveniences caused.

One would think GOG, of all places, would know the importance of backups xD
I tried what drhome91 suggested, I had issues with dotnetfx35.exe for Caesar IV.

However, I couldn't do it, because even when I downloaded the file from Microsoft's site and placed it in target directory, with starting of GOG, the download AGAIN made a call to download same file from the site and would recreate .download and .state file again and again.
Tried deleting only .download, then only .state, then both - always this scenario, recreates them both in the target directory.

GOG, please, fix this ASAP because you will have migration of customers to Steam and Epic.
I mean, whole point of your platform is selling games online, so you can DOWNLOAD them and PLAY them.

If you cannot download them - what, you think that somebody will purchase them?
Still not solved?
Thanks for letting us know GoG. Please fix it ASAP.

I downloaded the saboteur via the direct method aka alternative or manual download and installed and it worked fine, thank you for the constant updates and your vigilance in fixing the issue with your service :)

Hahaha, great point! This made me laugh. Thanks. :-D
Check if your game has OFFLINE INSTALLER. Caesar IV has it - downloaded it without problem and started the game.

UPDATES, however, is another story. :D

micktiegs_8: Yeah, I was thinking along the lines of registry errors or something like that.
Most games don't but there are definitely some games that do here like that. Examples:-

- Delete the "KEY" from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Codemasters\Operation Flashpoint and Operation Flashpoint Cold War Crisis will throw up an error on startup.

- Delete "Installed Path" from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion and every option in Oblivion's launcher will be greyed out.

- Delete "Installed Path" from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout3 and Fallout 3's launcher will show 'Install' instead of 'Play' (as if the game things it hasn't been installed properly).

So, "just use Galaxy to download and copy the folder and that's your backup" is a bit naive (and why "just use Galaxy to rollback" to get an older version of a game is unreliable when reinstalling offline on a fresh system vs having the proper offline installer).

This thread's about GOG's own CDN - if downloads from Microsoft are failing then that's a different issue, although if they're working in a browser but failing it Galaxy it sounds like a bug in Galaxy. Maybe report it to support?

I'm seriously wondering if we need a user-maintained bug tracker to keep track of things that have already been reported by someone, so that we users don't repeat work logging issues.

Most games will recreate missing registry entries, I would say those who don't are more the exception that the rule.

The .NET 3.5 dependencies are actually included on the Windows 10/11 install ISO and can be installed offline:-

1. Insert your USB stick / disc and make a note of the drive letter.

2. Open a CMD line, type the following and press ENTER:-

Dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFX3 /All /Source:D:\sources\sxs /LimitAccess

^ where D:\sources\sxs matches the drive letter (change it to E:\sources\sxs if the drive letter is E:. This should install .NET 3.5 offline without even needing an internet connection.

All the other common dependencies, eg, VCRedists, can be found here:-

Actually, I noticed it two days ago when I was trying to download my GOG library and certain downloads were giving a 404 error.

Until now, GOG has not replied to my message, but I found that they recently put up a public post. I think that because there are a lot of files that need to be restored, it isn’t that easy, even if you have a backup. I guess being patient is all you can do at this time. However, I am glad that they are being transparent about this and that they put up a public post stating that they are working on restoring the error soon.
Ah so that's why my Amnesia The Bunker download is stuck at 92% ...
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ guess I'll wait then..

I'm assuming that this is why my copy of Baldur's Gate 3 is stuck at 92%
