Vainamoinen: Cancer is mostly the result of life. You name risk factors, these are valid. But they only increase a base chance that everybody of us has. That you can "basically prevent" cancer just because "you do everything right" is a stupid myth and it is a dangerous myth because it attempts to instill in cancer patients a feeling of guilt
avatar
rtcvb32: Not guilt, lack of training/knowledge. And it really doesn't help they put high fructose corn syrup in everything, use glyphosate on way to many veggies (which there's a number of studies say causes cancer), and many chemicals in many common products are absorbed in the body and are highly toxic, not to mention lack of nutrition in the food and drugs that kill gut bacteria...

While i say 'preventable' i didn't say it was easy. Most people will be too lazy to change.

Vainamoinen: Sending a person with stage 4 cancer "tips" how to "cure" his cancer is perverse.

rtcvb32: The body is an amazing organism of engineering, which can heal itself if given the tools and opportunity; even extreme cases can be reversed.

Then there's faith/belief which can help someone by leaps and bounds; At least until that faith is shattered. The mind is also a powerful thing.
You are mixing up the ability to reduce the chance of something with the ability to prevent it. You can limit the chances a plane will crash. You can't prevent it. Cancer is a game of odds. It is a natural consequence of complicated molecules breaking down in the course of life. You can avoid some things that increase the odds of developing cancer. You can't avoid all the causes of cancer. And once it takes hold, you can't simply will it out of existence with a healthy lifestyle.

The misinformation you are spreading can cost people's lives and hurt people who think they could have stopped something they couldn't have prevented. Telling people to live healthy is a positive thing. Telling them they can beat cancer by living healthy is harmful.

When cancer is up 10,000% from a few decades ago, you have to look at what changed in the last few decades to raise those odds. Radiation, pesticides, bad food, fast&junk food, new chemicals... Cellphone radiation for example is shown to cause cancer, but people will probably still have phones in their bras or on their hips...

I agree you can't prevent it 100%, but like Autism which used to be something like 1:500,000 people less than 100 years, is something like 1:20 right now... SOMETHING is causing it, and if you cut those somethings out, you are far better off.

None of the suggestions i gave would cost anyone their life; Assuming of course you have at least 4% body fat and aren't being stupid about how you implement them.

But as i said, there's people unwilling to change their lifestyle even if told what to do. So ultimately it is still up to them.

Just yesterday came across an interesting person in news/sources, a woman who is 70 but looks 30, and has no health issues and been eating a vegan diet for 25 years and juices. Do tell me she is destined to have cancer because the odds are against her, regardless she took a lifestyle of old.

It isn't. It's going down. Click on the data table if you want to see the data all the way back to the 70s.

Autism hasn't increased, autism diagnostics have as a result of mental health awareness. Instead of saying "Shit, my kid's a weirdo", parents actually take their kids to the doctor now, to get a real diagnosis and treatment.

rtcvb32: Question... who is downvoting me?

Worse who is downvoting me for wishing TB gets better?

Seems like hoping someone gets better from cancer is somehow a bad thing...
I sure as fuck am downvoting you, because you're not wishing he gets better, you're just taking advantage of a man's terminal illness as a chance to spread the same old conspiracy theories you always have (don't think I didn't notice one of those water fasting links you posted was from the Infowars "medical consultant").

And to make it perfectly clear, you can dump all the Infowars-approved links on me that you want, I'm not going to get into a discussion with you, much less on something that just. Isn't. True. You wanted to know why you're getting downvoted? Now you know. If you have any decency you're gonna drop this and stop posting on this thread.

Uh. Yes of course they absolutely fucking completely would. It's basically "medicine will kill you, chew herbs instead". You're individually free to that, whatever floats your cult, but spreading such beliefs does actually encourage people to let themselves die.

I didn't say ignore all modern medicine and to chew herbs. But believe whatever you want.

Then obviously 'i hope he gets better' equals 'i fucking hope he dies'?

And obviously 'this might help him' equals... ?

Thanks for your insight...

Here are some possible causes to consider:

* Increased levels of diagonsis. As more people have become aware that autism is a thing, more cases of autism will be diagnosed, and reported levels will increase. No change to the actual incidence of this trait necessary. This is especially important to mention because autism is a spectrum, and there are some people who experience very mild autism traits, to the point where the diagnosis could go either way.

* Changes to the definition. Cases that wouldn't have been called autism years ago might be considered autism now. Of note, the condition formerly called asperger's is now just considered autism, so that can inflate the statistics.

I also remember reading a case where a parent was giving their children vegetarian (might have been vegan) diets, and the children were malnourished because some important nutrient was missing from their diets.

Certainly better diagnosis and changing the definition can inflate it...

But to those huge jumps? I don't buy it. I think there's more to it.

But that wasn't really the topic of this thread so i'm not going to talk further on it.

Undoubtedly. There's also the case of if you eat rabbit as your source of meat you're slowly starving yourself. So even having a 'meaty' diet will depend on what kind

But depends on the foods. You can get protein by mixing beans and rice or having enough nuts. But a full vegan diet for children, well either you supplement what they are missing or they develop problems. Can't really argue with that.
