Amazing, now the problem is not only a free game but the 1st May itself. Apparently workers do not deserve any right. Neither in an iconic date.

I fear that the real danger here is not a supposed indie pixel communism.

Relax a bit, guys.

GamezRanker: edit: come to think of it, shouldn't the game be free all the time? I mean...making money off of a game about socialism?

*pic related*
Socialism argues that workers have a right to the fruits of their labor.
The one who talked about giving things away for free was Jesus Christ.

A few more hours until the giveaway is over. What do you think, will GOG lock their own thread?

Gudadantza: real danger here
If it's so dangerous here, maybe you should wear a helmet before you post.
Maybe keep it on for a while after too.

squid830: Wait, what? How exactly is Duke Nukem "left wing"?!?
Well, he's pro-sex workers for one.

I heard they removed a post of someone supported Hong Kong protesters. Either they're afraid of political backlash or they already folded under certain groups.

pmcollectorboy: Those reviews are more than a little snarky.

I'm willing to bet you "what is this commie crap" people were perfectly fine when the oh so "back the blue" righties were swarming, mobbing, and stomping on cops in their own failed little riot simply because they couldn't stand losing an election.

VBProject: Surely "not my president" rallies in 2016-17 were better and Summer of Peace 2020 was great.

Walking into empty government building is surely a terrorism and a "tHreAt To DemOcRacY" unlike burning hundreds of people businesses and houses.
People always ignore the dozens of people that were murdered in addition to the burning and looting. Also the hundreds of additional people that were murdered because of defunding the police, and the DAs releasing violent criminals.

Antifa has it's origin as the militant group of a Stalinist communist party in the Weimar Republic during the worst years of Holodomor. Somehow while being a neo-nazi is completely unacceptable by everyone (which is should be), being a neo-stalinist is completely acceptable. Waving the flag of the country that killed 10s of millions, and of the belief that's killed more than any other is acceptable.

But, keep pushing for more prejudice and division, pretending you're doing the opposite. Keep pushing for more state control, and more unjust prosecution, because that'll definitely won't cause mass tragedy this time /s

kohlrak: What FPS is right wing? Even Duke Nukem is left-wing.
I just spent a few seconds 'researching' this topic (I searched DuckDuckGo and looked at the top results) and I got some hits. I haven't read the text in the articles, just glancing at them instead. Here are some of the hits that I got:

America's Army https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/America's_Army#Controversy

US military as militarising gamers and “military-entertainment complex” https://theconversation.com/how-the-us-military-is-using-violent-chaotic-beautiful-video-games-to-train-soldiers-73826

US propaganda campaigns - America's Army https://listverse.com/2016/09/29/10-little-known-us-propaganda-campaigns/

US Army uses Call Of Duty to recruit https://www.warc.com/newsandopinion/news/us-army-enlists-video-games-to-win-new-recruits/43622

Like I said in my first post, it seems that people only regard something as propaganda if it comes from a different perspective to them. It's like those people in cults who don't even realise that they've been indoctrinated. With regards to shooters, which I don't really play but I guess that the standard forfula is: The goodies (America) anihilate the baddies [insert convenient villians here...North Korea? China? (but that might not sell too well there, so best not mention them?)].

Is you asking that question like a person in a doomsday cult asking: "Can you prove that the world won't end in two weeks time as our glorious leader has predicted?".

Except aggressive militarism hasn't really been much of a right-wing platform since the NeoCons had so much fun blowing up Iraq that they ended up blowing up their own party as well. Patriotism, sure... but militarism is really more of a left-wing platform these days. It's just that they tend to prefer lobbing missiles from a few hundred miles away and drone striking. It's a bit easier to hide between the headlines, and they feel really bad about it later.

https://www.lexico.com/definition/militarism "derogatory
The belief that a country should maintain a strong military capability and be prepared to use it aggressively to defend or promote national interests".

"The belief that a country should maintain a strong military capability" - That's the policy platform of both the Republican and Democrat Parties, isn't it?

"be prepared to use it aggressively to defend or promote national interests" - I'm not sure that either party would not endorse that. Maybe you could argue that one party, every now and again, would limit themselves to just defending national interests but more often than not they use it with regard to military adventurism.

I haven't done a tally, but I would be surprised if any country has been involved in more conflicts that the US in the 20th century - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_armed_conflicts_involving_the_United_States#20th-century

Silly ! i'm 100% certain the devs saw it as their rightful duty to give out their game for free. As much as i'm a bit tired of all the crying all the time over the most insignificant of issues and people who claim they are for freedom when it's only a one way street, i must admit communists aren't really the brightest bunch these days even if some of them claim to be.

Ok, so strong on the strawman, i see. Conservatism does not equal militarism. Look at how the left was really pushing for WW2 while the Right was trying to stay isolationist. And I have some sources telling me elsewhere that they believe the reason Japan attacked pearl harbor was because communists in Japan felt that Roosevelt were in the whitehouse when Japan inevitably got hammered they could make Japan communist, so they contacted Roosevelt's staff behind the emperor's back to set up the whole thing in exchange for giving Roosevelt the war he wanted. Roosevelt wrote an ultimatum that the emperor couldn't possibly accept and the rest is history.

MarkoH01: Thank you GOG for the freebie. Already owned it on itch.io because of their mega bundle but it is always nice to have a GOG version.

For those who might have forgotten it: a videogame is harmless and won't hurt anybody - so play it or don't - claim it or don't ... but stop making more out of it than it is.
I'm sorry you're so upset that people are phrasing their opinions - both about game in general and about content of this game. It must be very hard for you to stand that people are complaining on something, you're not complaining. I have hope it didn't cause you too much pain.

*being serious - I know internet is nowadays filled with various opinions and judgements, involving those on the boarder of being ludicrous and based on lies - but despite that, I'm still for allowing everybody to share every kind of opinion, no matter if it's about free game or big AAA title for 80$, so saying "don't share that you're upset about this game/giveaway" is not causing my enthusiasm

Nope, it is not hard for me at all - imo it's just ridiculous that there are still people out there complaining about a few pixels on a screen, that's all. It is also just an opinion but I thought we all would agree that a videogame never hurt anyone. I never tried to suppress opinions here I just tried to remind people that we are talking about a stupid videogame and nothing more.

pearnon: It's an "incredibly important" day in many European cultures because it's an ancient festival of spring. Don't conflate it with its appropriation by socialists and communists.
Sorry, but you are wrong. The date was chosen to commemorate the Haymarket massacre, not because ancient festivities. Although the massacre was May the 4th, 1886, the strikes and rallies for achieving the eight-hour work day started the 1st, all across the USA.
