honestly, i really love man of steel; i like the fact that it's definitely more sci-fi than the previous films; we got terraformers, liquid-like robots, scout ships to search for new planets, children grown rather than born, etc. plus, superman truly fighting like a badass.

Elmofongo: Watchmen (Would really like to see the Ultimate Cut)
avatar
Shmacky-McNuts: I have the Ultimate cut. If you like reading the full comic book, they made the film version exactly like the comic. Well as is humanly possible.
Ooh, it features the real outdated and cheesy flashy costumes instead of these fashionable neodark-reboot-like uniforms, it has aging/potbellied heroes instead of the standard hollywood superfitness, it features the squid and re-establishes dr. manhattan's rationale for his final decision ?

I must totally watch this version !

I love those complaints. For some insane reason many people have this nonsensical idea that the heroes from Watchmen should look like Adam West's Batman, and be just some sad joke, entirely ignoring the fact that most of them were active as superheroes for a number of years, were at least moderately succesful at it, and are shown to be quite capable in the comic.

Don't you school me on bad movies, rapscallion! I've sat through Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter, Rabid Grannies and Highlander: The Source!

Also, I have to say I never really got the appeal of MST3K. If I want to have someone talk over the movie I'm watching, I'll watch it with my friends. Otherwise, I'd rather just have the movie, without the "annoying people in front of you at the cinema" simulation.

This forum needs an enema. Its sense of humor is backed up in the lower intestinal area.

Yup. Except that the comics takes place a little later than that, that their costumes ARE pretty adamwestey (the childish disguise aspect is lampshaded at several points in the comics), that the nite owl looks like this, and that without it you kinda miss the point of many sequences.

But whatever. Not cool enough, I suppose.

And yet all the main characters are still, at that point, shown to be able to kick some ass when necessary.

Their costumes are what comic book superhero costumes of the era looked like. Nite Owl is no more "adamwesty" then Blue Beetle. Their looks were altered (and honestly, not very much) not for "coolness", but to make the movie ones be reflections of movie superhero costumes, and yes, also to not make those heroes look like complete jokes, which would make them having any crimefighting careers longer than a weekend simply ridiculous.
This bad boy RIGHT HERE

Would you recommend The Three Stooges to get things flowing again.

I would never frown on the benefits of slapstick. Sure. But if one is going to enjoy slapstick, best to start with the Story of Ricky... or the Story of Riki-Oh if you wanna be snobbish about it.

I'll just say:

Starship Troopers 2.
The Old Negro Space Program while were at it.
Some movies I have been told to not like that I found entertaining (in some cases very entertaining):

Green Lantern
bouth Fantasic Four Movies
League of extraordinary Gentlemen ((So what, Mr. Hyde did not raped The Invisible Man to dead in the movie))
Postal ((Yeah, a Boll movie ;) ))

None of those are even close to the "re-writing cinema history & ground breaking new and never seen before" area & I doubt that was ever intended. I'm glad I watched them before I let a bored critic pee in my cereals by reading how outraged they left the movie 5 min after it started to be the first to send the already finished days ago review. ;)

I definately agree about League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. It's not a perfect adaptation of the comic, but the thing is- it's not inteded to be. It's not like Sin City, it's more like what Batman Begins is to Batman: Year One, and as just a steampunk adventure movie inspired by the comics it's pretty good.

As to Green Lantern I think it's a pretty mixed bag, but I definately don't understand why this movie get's so much hate, and yet something like Thor: Dark World or Iron Man 3 is a huge hit. Sure, it was a dissapointing movie for the comics fans, and not a particularly great movie in general, but it wasn't horrible either. I really regret it didn't get a sequel. We got the origin story out of the way, the cast was really good (Reynolds was actually ok as Hal, and Stron as Sinestr really knocked it out of the park), and I generally liked the visuals style, the designs for the Green Lanterns and Oa. That was a good foundation to build on, they just needed a better script for the sequel.
