To me, Gamergate is NOT a hate movement (ie not "white supremacist movement's / internet harassment and hate campaign") it's a HATED movement, big difference. Socjus types have likened culture to a bicycle & if someone rides it, that deprives someone else the experience. Gaming culture though is big enough that it is a fleet of bicycles, trikes & maybe even some four-wheelers of all different colors & options to suit riders of all types. it's truly diverse (not just color) but there are those that are mad that gaming isn't made up of only one type of bike (different colors sure but few other options) so for me GG is a fight against a true case of "cultural appropriation" as opposed to some random person trying on a native-American headdress for a few minutes.
like gaming culture, there is enough internet for everyone. So please don't try to appropriate that as well.

One of the reasons the forum has gone to shit is because many people cannot force out replies to their own posts. Not taking the effort to reply will obviously stifle discussion. So whoever gets banned and whatever evil-words list comes to make the forum great again, shitty people who can't put in even the minimum effort to continue any discussion will always ruin it.

mmmm, actually the law as read on the government website don't specify the "insults" (thus not including "miss"), ultimately it's up to the judge to decide what's offending and punishable. So it's not really different than from most laws around. It's naturally easier if the plaintiff is backed up by an association like the CCIF or SOS Racisme.
It's a country run by a president with 4% of popularity, what do you expect? :o)

i really decided to go full-psychopath road and adress people around me by the term "meat" or "meat unit", it's perfectly gender neutral and roughly accurate on a strict physical point of view... of course i have to deal with puzzled glances from time to time, but at least i'm not triggering any gender sensibility this way, mind them :)
yes the law doesnt give an exhaustive list of insults (but i clearly heard during assembly debatings that the word "mademoiselle" was now sexist...) and that is why sentences are in the "up to x/y" form, and the judge has to appraise the offense

so of course, unless you ends up being judged by a french anita sarkesian of a judge, you would not get the full 6 month jail and 25 000€ fine, but again it does not only depends on the judge but also the attacking party (if it is a rich and famous person, you can be sure the other guy will get harsher punishment... we had cases with that)
anyway it is a matter of principle, i mean, 6 month jails damnit, and it's penal so it's noted down on your crime record; your wanna be employer will be granted access to your criminal record and that will be on it

former president getting harsh sentence against a guy who publicly yelled "i see you, sarkozy, i see you !" in protest of an occuring police abuse of force
patrick bruel singer getting sentence against someone on internet using his REAL name for defaming him (hey, dude, your REAL name is exactly the one noted down on public website for "legion d'honneur" decoration/medal you were granted for no reason... since when using the name publickly aknowledged by state itself could be diffamation ?)
i could find more weirdass sentences that involved rich/influential arses abusing system and corrupting judge against regular and innocent citizens... last 9 years justice only runs like that here !

yes auvergne has stunning landscapes... one side of my family is from there. at least in those rural areas of the very center of the country, we avoid some of the most annoying issues.

but many people here were rather shicked... many people who are active members of french IT-based websites such as numerama and nextinpact (well, former website changed design, turned into web tabloid and erased its old articles database since then, the later was called "pcinpact" at that time but they kept their articles however... so i think searching by the name of the minister, belkacem, could lead to decent results)

when i vaguely mentioned this here on the forum, it was vaguely as a "joke" to somehow "give an humoristic counterweight of whetever we see in usa or elsewhere, because i use to turn into a sarcasm/joke whatever true fact that really infuriate me... but people had me dig back all those monthes of crap and now it doesnt make me laugh at all anymore and get me angry again... dont even know how.if i'll ever be able to attend my next social activity as initially scheduled next week because atm it's completely unadvisable to let me come near any human being without risk of violence...
