EyeNixon: How much time can insecure nerds spend on whining about women?
About the time it takes to fill 344 pages on GOG.
Shadowstalker16: Ad hominem About the time it takes to fill 344 pages on GOG.
It's a mistake a lot of people make to equate ad hominems with insults when they're not really the same thing. I could disregard somebody's opinon on abortion because they're a priest and that would be an ad hominem. However, most people wouldn't consider being called a priest to be an insult.
That being said, I can call somebody a fucker in a post where I dismantle their argument and as long as the arguments I'm using aren't based upon the person being a fucker, there's no ad hominem involved.

it is an ad hominem, I agree a bad one, but still an ad hominem as it says everyone is an insecure nerd, so all the arguments here came from insecure people, trying to invalidate good, average, or bad arguments all together without even dare to rebate them. I could choose to be as stupid as him (This is an insult) and say another ad hominem, for example: That every feminist male is a White Knight, that is still a slave of his dick and the patriarchy, as he just disguise himself in this behavior, but for the hidden purpose of please women for acceptance and/or ultimately sex and/or to get long term relationships. It's a mistake a lot of people make to equate ad hominems with insults when they're not really the same thing. dtgreene: Let's add a couple constraints:
1. Only games that could be considered "mainstream" count. This excludes most indies (in particular, this excludes games like Touhou), but does include games like the Metroid series
2. For games with a selectable main character (or the main character's gender selectable), only count the default choice. (So, for example, Super Mario USA wouldn't count because Mario is the default choice, not Peach, but Unlimited SaGa (if you consider it mainstream, which it probably isn't) does because Laura is where the cursor starts.
Notice how the list is noticeably smaller? Also, note how small the list is compared to those with male main characters?
You keep talking as if game devs owe you something in terms of representation - they don't. Authors, singers, directors and game devs are artist and as such they can create whatever art they want. If you feel that you as a transgender person isn't represented in the media then you are free to make whatever game you want and populate it with gays and transgender people. But developers don't have to create a certain character, all they need to do is make a good game - that is all they need to focus on. If you can't play a game with a male lead then that is your problem and not the game's problem.1. Only games that could be considered "mainstream" count. Jesus Christ, what are you even doing on the Internet if you're that sensitive? I mean seriously. And this isn't a matter of language barriers here. If you're going to use a term like ad hominem, then you should know what it means. There's really no excuse for using a term that most native English speakers don't know and then getting it wrong. The point I'm getting at is that it wasn't an ad hominem it was just an insult.

It is less than ideal that there aren't more sexual minorities in games. But, if they're not going to do a good job of it, I'd rather they not bother at all.
Plus, this is gaming, it's not an accurate portrayal of the real world. If I want that, I can open my window.

hedwards: Speaking as a bi man, I wish they'd stop trying to shoehorn us in just to placate people. If a character isn't legitimately gay or bi or trans putting one in to check off the diversity quotient checkbox is just offensive. Game dev emails Pocket Gamer to submit his game for review. Their sales team responds instead, offering to sell coverage as well as event sponsorship packages (which include significant editorial content).
