catpower1980: Game of the day
google "bayonetta 2" along with some themed word like "sexist"

=>Polygon review pops up as the first article in the news section

I've archived the page so feel free to read it without giving anymore clicks to polygon:
https://archive.today/6KeoU
To be honest - in my personal opinion - this:
http://uk.ign.com/articles/2010/02/23/deadly-premonition-review

is much worse than this:
http://www.polygon.com/2014/10/13/6957677/bayonetta-2-review-wii-u

or this:
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/11/11/wot-i-think-goodbye-deponia/

In the later two cases I can clearly see reviewer's personal bias. Then I can judge if I care for the same stuff the rewiever cares or go somewhere else and read someone who cares about things I care about.
On the other hand the first review looks competent enough to believe it and based on it I would never bought something really loved, thinking it's a Magna Cum Laude-like minigame fest with racing (I don't really like racing games). And to end the review, Mr. Reviewer tells me that I can enjoy my shitty game while he and all the cool kids will play better ones.
So, to sum things up, in my opinion incompetent reviews are worse than clearly biased ones :)

tremere110: Oh please, consumer movements have historically been branded in a negative light by those who are afraid of them. Early consumer movements in the US were branded as unamerican and communist movements - which is far worse back then than being called misogynist today. Back then being unamerican was enough to put you on trial for treason. But the movements pushed through and guess which side won?

StingingVelvet: Calm down there, Che Guevara. I don't take this thing anywhere near as serious as you seem to.
Sorry, didn't mean to come off as so snarky. I was observing how history repeats itself and how frustrating it is to see the other side attempt the same tactics in a very similar situation and expecting a different result.

Well Che guevara was at least not a gay advocate. He had better things to do and did it! You dont win anything with people who care more about sexuall orientation then how to use a weapon or how to combat enemys in general!
And the social advocates are cultural racists nothing more. Treat them as advocates of a dictatorship in progress and dont argue with them. Just treat them as what they are!
And Brianna Wu´s yesterdays appearance on fraudster TV was yet again another example what these people are. How many examples do we need to understand they are all just messed up snakes!
And i wouldnt mind to treat the wimin equal to man in that case. True equality should shine as bright as the morning star. And in the end thats what these people will get!

Yeah, biased reviews are easy to "read between the lines" to make your own judgment, a good example of that are imdb reviews for films with sex in it (not the PG-13 ones). Even bad reviews about old Italian genre films makes me want to watch the movie ;)

The only downside in the gaming sphere is that score is so prevalent for things like metacritic that it gives the "too long didn't read" crowd an advantage and can lead to some prejudice (cf. Fallout New Vegas). Here's some recent post from TotalBiscuit:

I guess I'll never understand people who base their purchase decissions based on a stupid number. Sure, I can buy bargain bin \ -75% promo game based on metascore or interesting plot \ concept description on the back cover, but if someone's buying new titles at full price based on a score and without even readint the review behind that score... well, that person deserves to buy a crappy product or miss a good one.
And one more argument for biased reviews being superior to incompetent ones: biased review is useful for people who share bias with the reviewer.

Oh my god, that's the movie which made me fall in love with Italian cinema more than 15 years ago! I bought it on vhs then dvd, then blu-ray :o) Funny thing with Suspiria is that it's the neverending search of the perfect image when a new support comes out with forum battles to discuss wich edition is the best ^o^

I just have a simple DVD... but the eyes scene at the beginning freaks me out every time I watch it, and that's all I need :)

You might want to check the "sequel" called Inferno where the second "mother" is based in New-York. There is no real story because Argento was on drugs so it's more or less a collection of insane sequences full of colors, blood and astonishing music. After getting off drugs, Argento could never get back to that level of genius craziness ^o^

Quite an interesting article, and it's something I would happen to agree with.

Edit: Forgot to check the date, but it's still interesting to see if the woman's theory about it is still true. I know John Carmak made mention of not being able to find the numbers that they want to hire for the Rift, and that's at a pretty high level of education.

Thanks, I had no idea it had a sequel! If someone was mindful (insane? :)) enough to publish Suspiria in Poland, maybe I can find the sequel too...

They are actually a trilogy. The last part (Lacrimarum) was finished last year I think.

Some correction : the title is in fact "La Terza Madre" and was shot in 2007. However, it had a lot of mixed reception amongst the fans because since the middle 90's Argento lost its touch and Italian cinema in general too (due to lack of budget and interest from the public). Watch some excerpts on youtube and make your opinion. Advice: watch Argento's movies up until "The Stendhal Syndrome" included.

BTW, if you enjoy the fancy stuff, a couple of fellow Belgians did "Amer" some years ago, an hommage to the 70's italo cinema, it's quiet experimental (less than 50 lines of dialogue ^o^) but it's very stylish:

In the same vein, there are also Black Aria and Last Caress by two French guys but they're harder to find (only got the first one on dvd).

Goes by the title "Mother of Tears" here in NZ. I'm guessing that translates...? By far the worst of the trilogy IMO
