How the hell do you defend against that?
The draw between Argentina and Iceland is the first big surprise. In the end it might have been a little lucky for Iceland, but on the other hand Argentina's game was rather unimaginative and so they didn't really deserve to win.
Iceland had a really great defense. Certainly didn't think they would get a 1-1 against Argentina.

Well, I disagree. Iceland has a huge potential and they play collectively. They won their world cup qualification group in front of Croatia, Ukraine and Turkey. They can even qualify to the second round. Argentina, even though they have a very talented squad led by Messi, suffers in offense and they don't use their full potential, at all. They really need to be careful. Croatia and Iceland can finish the group in the top 2 and Argentina can quit the world cup in the first round.

The biggest surprise so far for me is Iran. I didn't expect them to win their first match. I can expect a 0-0 draw, but not a 0-1 win. Morrocco is a really talented team and somehow, with the help of luck (Morrocco's own goal), Iran beat them.

Completely agree. They were a surprise two years ago, but they've been solid since then. Team cohesion and work rate are off the charts.

Biggest surprise so far to me was actually the opening game. Figured that one would have been a lot closer with a decent chance of a KSA win.

Yes, I was also expecting a close game (like a 1-0 or 2-0 game due to Russia's limited offense power) but after Cheryshev got into the game, the momentum changed and they really deserved a one-sided win. Russia has also very talented players. I wonder what they can do in the coming matches.

Ah, yes Batistuta, Ortega, great players. Ariel Ortega one time played in Turkey for Fenerbahçe and it was a realy joy to watch him. Very talented.

Watching Peru/Denmark and the guy calling the game is driving me nuts. :P No words, all he does is yell. XD

Even when nothing is happening it's "WHOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!"

And then there is a pass

"HEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!! WHOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!"

And then another pass

"OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"AYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
No other footballer has made it so obvious they were about to sky a penalty like the fella for Peru #ToePunts

Reminded me of myself on the JV team in high school.
Two missed penalty in a row. What's the odds on that?

The Zaza Special.
A well deserved tie for Iceland. :)

You clearly haven't watched any/enough football matches with Mexican commentators. They're always over the top. I actually thought it was pretty funny in comparison to the more calm demeanor of the usual ones we get on English-speaking channels.

Can't fault them for getting excited about watching the beautiful game. ;)
