Simply put Brazil being Brazil and Willian being a headache to the defense all game... He was just unstoppable no surprise there. Oh well at least Mexico had a good first half I guess...

I am glad that Croatia has gone to the quarterfinals. Too bad that Mexico couldn't beat Brazil.

Am I correct in assuming that, while by no means a walk in the park, on paper, Belgium should be able to handle Japan without any undue concern?
In my very limited experience, Belgium is the one team that hasn't suffered any "off games" and has thus been the most consistent and dominant team so far in this tournament. Yes I know they only beat England 1-0, but IMHO both teams were thinking about the next round during that game.

That's a funny selection of referees:
Main ref from Senegal (Group H, lost group to Japan)
And the VARs are all neighbours of Belgium: 2 x Germany, 1 x France, 1 x Netherlands

The Belgian team has a lot of big names in it, you can tell because they all play in the English premier league! So on paper they should win this, however seen them lots of times have the talent but can't work as a team. Hard to say they have been the most consistent, all the big teams have been pretty bad, even Brazil are only just waking up. The England v Belgium game was a race to the bottom so irrelevant.
Shame Mexico didn't win earlier, they had a good 60mins or so and a goal for them might have changed it. Would really have thrown the tournament open though if Brazil had of gone out.

Ok, the japanese goalkeeper seems to be the mvp. So many clutch defenses.

Crap.
Probably the fairest game of the tournament. No dives, no endless complaining, no embarrassing acting, etc.

Unlike Spain, Germany & Argentina, Belgium have a Plan B. And if you want to see a lesson in opening an area in football, watch Lukaku movement in Belgim 3rd goal.Cutting and moving creating spaces for himself and others.
Unlucky for Japan. Their terrible 10 minutes against Poland totally forgiven and they can hold their head up.

Belgium - my great respect!
I know teams which would rather cry and go home to their mommies after second goal lost. Great fighting spirit!
