Niggles: Few questions - does Luke have a son in this? (is this who seems to be referenced to in the 2nd teaser? or ). Does Han and Leia?. Reason i ask - the former is mentioned as possibility in a few places and in some of the books the latter (yeah i know most if not all are not canon) are mentioned.
I'm thinkging the young woman might be Leia and Han's daughter, but honestly I'm not sure where I got that from. Other than trailers, posters and such I try to stay away from most news that could spoil the movie for me.

infinitee8: But its Star Wars and Georgie ruined it for me with the second trilogy. I remember those trailers looked amazing too. As much as I loved the first trailer and really like this trailer, I have to temper my excitement and hope JJ knows what he is doing and gives us goosebumps throughout the entire movie.
Books taking place in prequel trilogy period make it quite passable.
And this trailer, unlike prequel trilogy, looks dirty and rusty. Star Wars universe is dirty and rusty. With J.J. behind the camera (I kind of like this guy after Fringe) I'm quite optimistic.
This made me laugh my ass off. XD

It seems, from comments here and elsewhere, a lot of people are forgetting that according to the statement made last year no EU works prior to April 2014 are considered canon. Therefore, any offspring any of the main characters had will be completely new. Much as I would have loved to see a Thrawn movie trilogy or an X-wing focused series, etc, I doubt Abrams will flick off Disney and include post-ROTJ EU references.

It's true it's all non-canon, but I'm pretty sure some of it will eventually find it's way back into the new canon in one shape or another. For example I'm pretty sure Boba Fett will turn out to have survived Sarlacc in the new canon too, he's just too popular (which means profitable) character to let him bite the dust.
Why everybody wants to base new Star Wars movies to Thrawn trilogy so badly? Why rehash story that has been released years ago instead of making something new?

Normally I'd agree with you but dude: THE MILLENNIUM FALCON!

There are definitely some things I want to see them include-like Luke training a group of new Jedi, the Alliance having won over the Empire and establishing a New Republic on Coruscant, just major things that conceivably should happen in any post-Episode 6 scenario.

I will be really pissed off if it turns out they did not beat the Empire and establish a New Republic. That would make me just feel robbed of the sense of triumph from the end of Return of the Jedi. While I consider it the weakest film of the original trilogy, I still remember how happy I was as kid when the good guys finally won.

Well I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess with the Tie Fighters and all the Storm Troopers in the trailer that the Empire is not totally defeated.

That hyperdrive motivator again.

Duh. I'm not quite that stupid :) But for the time being I'm assuming it's some remnant that resurfaces after a long abscence or being pushed back to the fringes of the galaxy, or some new group using old imagery for ideological reasons (noe-imperials if you will), or something else of that ilk. I just don't want the story to go "and after the Emperor's death and all that celebration nothing really changed and they kept fighting this war for the next 30 years".

I don´t think they´re a new group, probably those who really believed in the empire´s ideals, not the stormtroopers that just want to work somewhere and are brainwashed into imperialism :P
Even if the head has been chopped, they must deal with the loyal remnants.

I didn't mean it to come off that way! :P

Sorry about that. :D
Wooh a hot chick with some bad hand joints! :)

It wouldn't be Star Wars if the heroes aren't underdogs so Yay from me for there still being a Empire to fight.
