Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

cjc7: Would Costume Quest be a good game for pre-teen girls ? If you know.
I would say yes. It is very cartoony, very light-harded, and very fun. Compared to most of the stuff on TV these days, this is a very tame game.

It is also a game that gives off a very Halloween vibe, so if the pre-teen girl(s) in question do not mind playing such a game after Halloween has long past, then by all means.

The GOG version has some additional content that takes place during the Winter season, and while it looks like you can start it without having played the initial Halloween story, I *think* that costumes and stamps you missed out on do not show up in the winter story.

Let me know if you have any additional specific questions about it and I shall do my best.

Minmataro: My wife says i have gaming commitment issues.
She says it came about during World of Warcraft running a raid schedule 6 days a week for almost two years...

So now if i feel like i have to do something i will lose all interest.

If i feel like i need to beat something it gets uninstalled.

its pretty bad.
I share that affliction with you. It almost seems like my backlog is so large that I can only play what is interesting at the moment, and when I do it is hard to maintain that interest if I have to step away for any reasonable length of time. Makes it very hard to complete games I have started - at that point I must push onward with discipline. >.>

I've been worried about picking up other RPG's due to what happened with WoW, which is silly lol. Yet, I still have 6 good looking RPG's in my backlog. Maybe I'm just afraid none of them actually end, they just keep going, without ever having a conclusion....

Well, I can tell you from personal experience that Baldur's Gate has a definitive ending, Icewind Dale 1 & 2 have one, Fallout 1 has one, Planescape has one. I know I've beaten Neverwinter Nights before, but can't remember the ending, which is kind of sad. Guess I really need to replay that.

Stilton: Here's what I ended up with:

Heroes of Might and Magic 3
King of Dragon Pass
<snipped>....

I can't believe I got by with so little sleep...
Got
Thief 1, 2, 3. (impulse)
Jade Empire (impulse)
Neverwinter Nights 2
Book Unwritten Tales (mercy buy)
Rogue Legacy

Would have bought more but... already had 'em!
And

Boom goes the dynamite.

Yeah, I do that now too. I have so many games in my backlog that I jump between them all. Back in the old days I used to play a game until I dried it out of all fun (sometimes beating the game 5 or 6 times), now I jump to and fro with multiple games. Since I have little time these days with school, I commit 2 hours a day and play roughly 4-8 games. Out of those, I normally stick with 2 that I set on completing, and the others are just random. Weekends, it's a whole different story.....
I'm having post-Fall Insomnia Sale depression. :(

MGShogun: I'm having post-Fall Insomnia Sale depression. :(
My Paypal hurts. And it takes forever to download all these games with a 2 Mbps connection.

Nah, that's just your brain short circuiting due to the lack of sleep...

jackster79: *Raises glass*

A toast to this awesome community and all those with whom we shared this experience with; it will be the standard by which all future sale threads are judged.

*Drinks, thinking to self: "They don't get much better than this, do they?"
Toast to all of the great people who made this event fun, even through some of the trying times - 100 copies of Jack Keane 2. Hope that we'll get to do this again.

Stilton: Did I read that the stats have been put up somewhere?
avatar
Kaitu: One of the admins came on like 10 Eadors ago and said they would post stats here and on social media.
Hopefully they'll post the stats in a few Keanes :)
