Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Shendue: Actually "the keaning" has been used for a while already.
As I said, though, this is the first time I've seen it. I've been in and out doing other things during the sale, so haven't been able to follow all the pages of this thread (and it moves fast), so that was the first time. It was the top post on the page, so that's why I noticed it.
avatar
groze: And, in most cases, our new *good old* games. (n_n)
avatar
Cardian: I'll probably try out some impulses now, like Reus or Book of Unwritten Tales.
Both are great games! But I'd like to warn you that Reus can be a bit difficult to get into at the beginning. My first reaction was "wtf is actually happening there?!" but after some time I got what's what and I had a blast playing it.

Fictionvision: Controls are good with KB/M. Keyboard to move, mouse to aim and shoot. The game is fun and has a great soundtrack imo.

Edit: You got time to check out videos of it, this is going to take forever as it has been on sale a lot and even in a humble bundle, so the market is fairly saturated for it.

MGShogun: Thanks for letting me know. Sounds more reasonable than Retro City Rampage, which depends on the gamepad. I don't have the gamepad.
Hotline Miami? Yes it´s a good game and is more about strategy than action since it requires some type of plan to be able to do the missions you are given. The graphics are reminding me of GTA and so is the "setup" of how you achieve your missions. This is a bloody game, and a damn hard game as well=).
avatar
Russonc: Not that Hotline Miami is a bad game, I just have it already (and I am so patiently waiting for Jade Empire, which I am feeling like I will miss ...)
avatar
DrRoxo: Brother, I'm right there with you! We can make it! We can fight! We can sit in the more and more uncomfortable chair and stare at the screen for hours and days! We *will* have that Jade Empire, dammit, WE WILL!!

... and that enthusiasm is totally not fuelled by the largest possible cup o' coffe I just ingested. Honestly :3
Please get lucky, please get lucky...
avatar
nijuu: For once im really disappointed in GOG. The support staff can see whats happening with the sale numbers and what is slow and whats not. I think they got this one very wrong.Sorry.
avatar
mantarrochen: Try to take it easy. Throwing emotions at your screen wont change anything. I suggest sitting down somewhere away from your computer and do something else entirely. Like doing a crossword puzzle or logic trainer. Or reading a book or playboy. Or grab a snack. Or contemplate life. Meditate (say hi to spock). Twiddle your thumbs. Ah; Im sure youll find something. :D
I have the game. Its a good one. But seriously... 900 is an overkill......im going to play some games..
I have to give a shout-out to... all of you! <3

I've gotten 2 free games from the random "free" games - postal 2 and system shock 2

but that's not the reason for the shout-out.

this group has generously given me Ultima VII and Wing commander IV.

I mean its like we're just 'sticking together'.

To be fair, I've also given two peeps, two random games too.. so I don't feel like a moocher. We are taking care of one another.

Thanks to everyone.

FreDDaN: Please have Tomb Raider Trilogy on slae next, I need sleep
avatar
Boilpoint: Yeah, waitin for same. Coulda swore it was gonna be next based on original order :(
Hope so, I was not interested in the orginal Tomb Raider before but after watching Caddicarus review on the first 1 I want it now, and I bought the remake which was awesome.
Well... damn. I once thought that 10.000 posts could be barely reached. WRONG!
Then perhaps, I thought it would end short of 20.000 posts. WRONG AGAIN!
Now, part of me is tempting fate by saying that it won't reach 30.000 posts. Feel free to bring eggs to the party...
avatar
Bonshea: Oh wow, I never even realized Hot Line Miami was on this site. It's taking every ounce of restraint and perseverance I have not to give in and finally give that game a try, but I've held out this long for Jade Empire... must... endure.
You didn't play it yet? Take it. It's worth the buy. Friggin' brilliant game. It's hard as nails, but amazing. Great gameplay, amazing music and the story has a very deep and complex metareferencial meaning that will make you think, if you catch it.
avatar
Shendue: 900 Copies??? Seriously?
Come on, Hotline Miami is an AMAZING game, but it's been on discount sales everywhere, even in a Indie Bundle, and this is 3rd round, so the potential audience is already saturated.
At this point of the sale, every game that isn't a very popular classic is potentially a Jack Keane.
avatar
Russonc: Jack Keane is a good game everyone....it is just getting beat up on a little.... :)
That's the thing. A good game at minute 1 can turn into a "this sucks and I wish everyone associated with it had never been born" game by hour 4.
Who wants to corrupt me with a copy of Hotline Miami?:) This whole Insomnia promo caught me off guard, I have null resources atm on my PayPal -_-

Quantomas: We do track all reported bugs. AFAIK there is no specific instability on Win7 64. I play on this platform for a couple years. A clean reinstallation helps for some people. Again, a download file from GOG is much more practical here than Steam.
avatar
MasodikTiasma: It was an issue a couple years ago. People talked about it on the Steam forums, and I personnally experienced it. Anyway, thank you for your answers, I just bought the GOG version after all. I have a new PC now, the crashes could have been related to my old specs.
I'll check your mod, looks interesting. :-)
You are welcome!

The current mod is two years old; the truly interesting upgrade is ahead in the next weeks, essentially the result of two years of work to research, design and implement an AI that does not cheat at all, simply plays by the same rules as you. Ofc it also addresses the speed, the ideal is instant turns like in HoMM3.
avatar
MGShogun: Thanks for letting me know. Sounds more reasonable than Retro City Rampage, which depends on the gamepad. I don't have the gamepad.
avatar
Fictionvision: Compared to RCR, I think this game is better by a good margin.

I am a cheap bastard when it comes to buying games. I wait for sales for almost everything and the number of stuff I buy full price day 1 is in the mid to low single digits every year. I will be buying Hotline Miami 2 day 1.
Sweet, thanks! :)

Cardian: I'll probably try out some impulses now, like Reus or Book of Unwritten Tales.

Ghorpm: Both are great games! But I'd like to warn you that Reus can be a bit difficult to get into at the beginning. My first reaction was "wtf is actually happening there?!" but after some time I got what's what and I had a blast playing it.
I had one look and thought WTF :D
