Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

JohnnyCash: This gives me an idea. Let's all post our ping time to gog.com. Mine is 56 ms.
avatar
saruchan: Your ping almost certainly has nothing to do with getting freebies. The thing is, your screen only updates every 2 seconds, and when that 2 seconds happens is based on when you first loaded the webpage. The freebie becomes available the millisecond that the last copy of the previous game sells. If that last copy is sold one millisecond after your browser last requested an update, other people have 1.999 seconds more than you to click before you even have a chance to see it.
Are you sure? My ping is showing as 24ms, and I have got almost all of the free games that I saw (in fact I think all except Total Annihilation). I didn't do anything really special yet still got them. Then it turns out my ping is just smaller than other peoples. Could it not be a reason?

Elinnea: Is there much difference between MOO1 and 2? I remember playing MOO2 years ago and loved it, but I've never tried 1. Is it worth going back for the original, or should I just stick with the tried-and-true sequel?
Yes, they are very different. MoO 1 has stacked ships, limit of 6 ship designs at any time, macro approach of management, while MoO 2 have single ships that you can upgrade, unlimited designs, micro approach of management/battles.

I personally prefer 1 over 2, and I'm working on my own MoO 1 clone as well, so I know what I'm talking about :) Beyond Beyaan
You know what's striking me as really great about GOG right now?
No DLC.
By comparison, I went on Steam and took a look at Borderlands 2. They have DLC for everything except getting your ass hair dyed a different color, and it's absolutely infuriating for someone that wants to feel like they have a "complete" version of the game. You don't have to worry about that crap here.

Stooner: 279 ms.. wow

Zera: I got 288 (from Brazil too), but I got two freebies. Ping is not an issue.

Who are you? At first, I thought I was amnesiac, posting messages that I didn't remember making. :D

Yeah I'm on Win7 right now...

puviani: We have better maple syrup in Canada, but higher latency to GOG.
Yup... although my Telus connection is REALLY reliable, compared to the Rogers and cable we have available here.
MOO 2 is the only game that I have installed on all my PC since it came out.
It's, in my opinion, more addictive than civilization while being more accessible.
