Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

I really don't mind not getting free games from GoG.

It when I can't wait for a game, pay full price for it, and then it goes on sale a week later that bothers me....
250ms to gog, and about 250ms reaction time from my screen, mouse and my reaction time. So 0.5 seconds.
I'm around 180... Let's all feel sad together, fellow non-Europeans D:

JohnnyCash: This gives me an idea. Let's all post our ping time to gog.com. Mine is 56 ms.

saruchan: Your ping almost certainly has nothing to do with getting freebies. The thing is, your screen only updates every 2 seconds, and when that 2 seconds happens is based on when you first loaded the webpage. The freebie becomes available the millisecond that the last copy of the previous game sells. If that last copy is sold one millisecond after your browser last requested an update, other people have 1.999 seconds more than you to click before you even have a chance to see it.
u can change the timer value pal

Zera: 288ms here. I got two free games, so that can't be an issue.
You can still be lucky (which is why I am still trying).

Your browser only polls GoG every 2 seconds (2000 ms) and if it just happens to poll GoG 1 ms after the last old game sells and the free offer starts, you are in good shape. This is entirely luck unless someone has found a way to cheat it I don't know.

Then you have to add your ping as that info travels to you, which none of us can do much about.

Then you add your reaction speed which is probably fairly fast for most gamers. This can be cheated by botting but as you can see even doing so would only save a small part of the total.

Then you have to add your ping again as that click travels back to GoG.

Adding all those up, the fastest X people get the games. So your ping is a huge deal, but being lucky on the 1-2000 ms polling window is still the biggest factor.

REZistance: Apparently I'm connecting to GOG from the moon.

itchy01ca01: Moon... Canada... Same thing :D
I think the moon still has a better time with its ISP than we do.

We have better maple syrup in Canada, but higher latency to GOG.

A high ping adds almost half a second to your reaction time, making it more unlikely to snag the freebie.

That's a good list. You've hit several of my favorite games there.
