acid_magic: Slow download when using GOG Galaxy.
1MB/s while i have 10MB/s speed.
Download/upload while using other application is normal = max download speed.

Funny thing is when i downloading with 1MB/s my internet slows down (it's blocked, can even surf) even i have 9MB/s left. My guess is Galaxy client is poorly written. No bandwidth limit is turned on. Please fix it! When i pause 1MB/s download internet speed suddenly goes normal.

When try to download thru web site, speed is even more criminal. But at least, my internet isn't broken,
Same here when trying to download some "goodies" in Firefox. Speed is fluctuating between 130 KB/sec and 210 KB/sec, occasionally briefly spiking to 300 KB/sec. I can normally download from GOG servers at 8-10 MB/sec.
Just adding to the chorus of with unrestricted bandwith I was getting a mere 3mbs, as soon as I set it to 1000 suddenly it's hovering around 10..

wolfhorse60: I was having the same issue. I have gigabit service. I was getting .3-.5 m. I went into setting in the GoG launcher, upper eft corner in library. Turned on bandwidth cap (it was off already) set it to 1000, then immediately turned it to unlimited again. also connected my Steam and Epic accounts. I am now getting 25-35 mega BYTES not bits, still not great but way better. I have no idea what helped or if nothing helped and the connection just randomly got better. I did speed tests during the download and it was 600plus Mbps. Anyway thats what I did , hope it helps someone
confirmed! - this does work i thought my download would never finish as i was get speeds at less than 0.6mbs. Using this method definitely works to boost the speed a good deal, not perfect, but at least i stand a good chance of getting the game downloaded in one night.

Thank you for helping ease my pain.
Thanks wolfhorse60 ! It helps me too.
My download is normally around 20-30 MB/S with a gigabit connection.
My connexion is capped at 1.7mb/s, everything I tried didn't change anything.
Like anybody, my connexion is very good anywhere else

Mine is also capped at 1,7. On Steam it's 20-40. Kind of says it all. I will never buy anything on GOG again.
How do you even see your current download speed?
I swear I saw it earlier today, but it doesn't seem to be visible anymore. I've been trying to update Cyberpunk 2077 all day.

yes same here ... i will also never buy anything from GOG again ... Was looking forward to download BG3 for to night to play ... but well sitting at 1-2MB/s ...
Of course the current situation is undeniably bad and shouldn't be accepted by a customer, sure thing. But, have you lived through a 64KBps satellite connection? It's a costly nightmare, took me a year to download one movie in good quality. Everything is relative.

Do we need a better alternative, better speeds? Yes, Sadly other commercial options available are either not fully DRM Free or are too small and problematic.

Gog doesn't like high speed download..only the patient can play their games.

"What ? You cannot wait two days to finish downloading your game? "

"Our servers are made of legos and rasberry pi, calm your t**ts !!"

my download speed on GOG is 10 times slower than on Steam..I feel you brothers
Not sure if this will help anyone else

Bought Baldurs gate 3 and was getting speeds of 1.3-3.3MB/s. I live in Australia and my internet connection should give me up to 25MB/s speeds....

I just set my VPN to USA and it spiked all the way up to 30MB/s and then settled to a steady 25MB/s

Their servers seem to favour American IP addresses.

OMG, thank you! That helped a lot. You saved my weekend.
Installing Ghost of a Tale right now, around 4.7 GB size and 2.71 GB download size. Its more than an hour and I'm still at 30%. This didn't happen when I installed the much bigger Venetica and Daymare this April.
I am in australia and for the last week or two the download speeds are slow in Australia, 400-500 KB/s on average I tried several differing browsers no luck, tried a different internet connection at families house same thing very slow, the only thing that worked was using a VPN and using a USA server location.

Please GOG can we get a response, this is obviously an issue on the Australian backend only you guys can fix
