Zero links on my desktop be it Windows 8.1 or Linux Mint 17.3. Its just unnecessary clutter. Before on Windows XP I had game links packed under one games folder on the desktop and that was it (basically all the games I had installed). Now that Linux and Windows both have fast/dash search its unnecessary to put any links on the desktop.

CuCuJambo: Can i ask you what is this shortcut with red dragon? It is very familiar to me thought-Let me guess Dragon Age?
Seems to be Guild Wars 2.

Smannesman: It would just be a screenshot of my wallpaper, I don't have any shortcuts on my desktop.
I've seeing a topic about desktop wallpaper the other months, you can post yours there.

I am an organisation freak. I have nothing installed on the main machine unless I am going to use it. Currently there is nothing on there as I am playing God Of War set on PS3. I have seen people at work whose whole desktop is covered in documents shortcuts, folders etc. It brings me out in sweats.
Currently, I only have these five games on my desktop, but that's just because I haven't put those shortcuts into their designated folders yet.

dtgreene: My desktop doesn't have any icons or wallpaper at all; it's just black.

When I want to play a game, I start it from the command line.

(Linux user here.)
Me too. Well, I do have a wallpaper, buy no icons, and I start games in a terminal.

I also keep shortcuts in folders and I usually play one (or sometimes two, albeit different genre) game at a time. Apart from that though, there are some games that are always installed in my HDD (Grand Prix Legends, GTR2, Power & Glory, Nascar Racing 2003 Season).

budejovice: Yeah, that made me count. I removed 10 or so a week ago. I currently have exactly 400 games installed on my MacBook Pro. :)
Insanity! I guess it's not a problem as long as you have HD space, I only have 188 GB so I started running out of space as I closed in on 100 game installations. My new approach is to treat the computer like a Shinto shrine of sorts, divine cleansed simplicity and so on. Still not there but it's getting better. I also need to unclutter my apartment, too much stuff lying around. Uncluttered environment -> uncluttered mind, not magically and automatically but I find it helps a little bit.
