darthspudius: I am curious to know if you can make a complaint via email about a seller being a twat?

Bought a 2xCD album, it came in a single disc case. Both CD's rubbed each other to the point of not playing. So I asked the seller if he knew about it and I got nothing but patronising insults.
Can't help you with the twats, but as for the discs, in addition to cleaning them you could try repairing them. There's this special, I dunno... resin? You can use it to repair scratches in cellphone displays etc. and it also works on data discs. I managed to fix up a few audio discs and game discs with that stuff.

lazydog: The OP now has goods, which may or may not have been reported as faulty but are now reported here to be working OK. A refund has been issued. The OP keeps the goods. The seller got fucked, basically.

Now, to return to the OP, who is really the twat?
If the seller sent out damaged discs ( placed in a single disc case, while it should have apparently been a 2-disc case ), and is being rude to his/her customers ( which is never an option, if you're trying to be even remotely professional about the way you do business ) then I'd have to agree that the seller is at fault, and may or may not be a "twat".

Depending on the price of the discs, it would probably not be worth sending them back anyway. ( Even if they weren't in bad condition. )

JDelekto: Are you sure one wasn't playing while the other was recording?
I doubt he knows the real story or is very confused.Maybe he put them in upside down:)

Titanium: Scratched CDs might or might not work, depending on how difficult it is for the drive to read the discs. If it only reads after a good cleaning, that's a damaged disc and therefore very low value.

lazydog: I am well aware of error correction on players to cope with this sort of thing- some cope better than others.

When he said they were rubbed together, I don't think he meant he rubbed them on purpose. I could be wrong here, but I'm assuming he meant that they rubbed together during shipping.

While they may be working correctly for now, the goods are still damaged. This means they might not work as well in the future or just have a shortened lifespan in general. Plus (and again, I might be misreading here so correct me if I'm wrong), from what I can tell, he only realized they worked after he got the refund. And on top of that, he's stated that his issue was not so much with the product itself, but the conduct of the seller.

Yeah I have heard that resin stuff works wonders. I have a friend who repaired quite a few old PC games with the stuff. I have never tried it myself though.

I will put this simply. I NEVER SAID THE DISCS WERE FAULTY. The items are "not as described." I asked if they intended to be sold like that, that is all. Just that. JUST THAT. NOT FAULTY! and the guy told me (in short) that he didn't care and to go get stuffed.

Would you take that abuse from a seller? How would you feel if you wanted to know something about your GOG purchase and they gave you that response? It isn't very nice. It was a simple question, why are you annoying cunts taking things this far?

Lack of specificity in your post allows others' to fill in the gaps with their imagination. Of course, the same holds true with replies that others' like to take advantage of vehemently.

However, if you bought something and it wasn't what you expected, I might question my own expectations on the purchase. Did I order a movie? Was it a new release with really crappy visuals and sound? Was it a bootleg copy of something with as little quality put into it as possible?

If you get a response like that from the seller, it kind of tells me that something isn't on the "up and up".
