T-Rex cutlets is what's for dinner.

Turok, the remastered fast-paced jurrassic FPS, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com with a 20% launch discount.

Remember when dinosaurs were all the rage and aliens were still scary? Ah, yes, the 90s. What a magical time to be growing up. Imagine a jungle-like land populated with unfriendly aliens. Now throw in some aggressive flora for added inhospitality. Surely, dinosaurs are the next logical addition. No wait, make that dinosaurs with guns. All that's missing now is an angry Native American warrior of time-travelling heritage to clean up the mess and thwart a great evil in the process. There, pure 90s.

Thankfully, Turok is not in the habit of entering such exotic-but-hostile lands unprepared. Strapped across his back are all kinds of devastating weapons, from the not-so-humble bow and knife to handheld instruments of mass destruction like miniguns and rocket-launchers. Plus all the havoc they wreak now looks extra spiffy in this remastered version, thanks to widescreen and high resolutions support, improved level design and fancy lighting effects.

Bring an army of oversized reptiles closer to extinction as the legendary Turok, now DRM-free on GOG.com. The 20% launch discount will last until December 24, 17:59 PM GMT.
This game is a bit overpriced, but I am glad it ended up here.
Thanks Night DIve & GOG!
I was set to buy this for $5.99 or maybe $9.99 and then you made it $15.99 and I laughed and closed the page.
Not at this price for those graphics.

I'm sure its a classic, but it will be hitting the large discounts soon enough.

Classic or no, the single biggest achievement of the Turok games was to not only keep the name Turok alive, but bringing it to mainstream audiences.

I'll eventually buy this, at a discount, because frankly, I'm not that interested in the game... just the name itself.

It's more of a curiosity than anything.

Rex Maxon was where it was at. 50s drawings were the best. Clean lines, realistic depictions of humans & animals. Too many shaders & colour gradients & crap on today's deformed drawings.
Nostalgic game.
Price or not, got it :)

It was $50 new. This is less than half the price. It took effort to remaster it. I have no gripes.

Can't wait to get into it again after so many years!
Never played this. I'll wishlist it for now. I have a booming backlog that I think I won't miss this for the next 4 to 6 months. Great release though! :D

haydenaurion: Ah good, hopefully it solves the crashing and speed issues some are having.

Galaxy being the culprit, why am I not surprised? :P

chevkoch: Everytime I hear someone report a Galaxy-related hiccup, I congratulate myself for not having installed it :)
Me too. I still feel terrible giving Galaxy shit considering all that work staff have put into it though.
Game looks great. Could buy it at this price but no Mac OS X port is a bummer. I'll wait for a Mac version or see if it runs with CrossOver/WINE. Thanks Night Dive! Hope you bring a Mac port.
Any word on WINE compatibility? Judas?
Does anyone know how hat games are released when is determined? Just wondering because IMO Turok is a very odd choice for today.

We've got a new Star Wars movie so a Star Wars game or game that gives off a Star Wars vibe would make a lot of sense to me. And with Christmas just around the corner a game with a strong winter or Christmas vibe would make sense to me as well but Turok fits neither. To me Turok would have been better back when Jurassic World had just hit theaters then now.

I'm more a Russ Manning fan myself, but I think you're right - the game gave Turok lots of mainstream name recognition. I wonder if Turok or Magnus are still published today; I know Dark Horse was putting out reprints of the early comics, but I haven't seen any new ones since the Valiant Comics line shut down a decade or so ago.
I have to agree, the price is a bit on the high side especially when I don't have any nostalgic feelings towards this title. To the wishlist.
My my my, what happened to the price? I think they got the comma/dot wrong xD.

Well, doesn't matter, I'll stick to my N64 module :-)

And Turok 2 with the RAM expansion, ah, what a blast (literally!).
