A night to remember.

Thimbleweed Park, a delightfully surreal point & click adventure by the creators of Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com!

This murder, it really ties the town together, man. A town already haunted by dark secrets and built on sins. Now five eccentric individuals will start poking around, each for their own reasons. Little do they know that they've become the unwitting catalysts for a fateful night full of bizarre events, brain-twisting puzzles, and weaponised sarcasm.

For some additional insight, check out our interview with Ron Gilbert, the mind behind Thimbleweed Park and a few other classics you may have heard of.

Hmm, a very positive review on adventuregamers, game is prolly really good.
Not relly cheap but as a fan of previous Ron Gilbert games this still was an instabought. However - not one single tiny bonus material? Not even a wallpaper or soundtrack? I am a bit disappointed in this regard.

BTW: I did not have any download problems (using GOG downloader).

same here.... a wallpaper would have been nice .....
A wallpaper would have indeed been nice. Perhaps some GOG Galaxy achievements as well? (Not mentioned as a feature on the store page.)

In any case, this looks fabulous! Thank you to all the team at "Terrible Toybox"!
tempted to instabuy, but i have to be a bit carefull about money.
Yeah, I guess it has been like a day since the last PnC got released here. Of course, this one is probably actually good, but Jeeezus. I'm sick of this genre.
???????????????? and the game needs .........

game doesnt work because of the ancient error that was never resolved by the tech

check screenshot

i also had this one with oh sir! check that screenshot aswell

Nothing works... installing the vcrun libs, getting the packs from microsoft... nothing...
so its support time i guess, cause 20 euros is to much to let it go ....

What about last week's releases? Five Delta Force 'action' games, four Army Men 'strategy' games, 88 Heroes 'arcade platformer'.

GOG can only release games as they become available. I'm sure something you like will be coming along sooon.

The official blog is a great documentation of the entire development of Thimbleweed Park. Just in case anybody is interested:

One of the latest entries deals with pricing and launch preparations.

There is a soundtrack available - I pledged extra on Kickstarter because of it.
But for some strange reason, they won't make it available on GOG, which is disappointing. Don't understand why.
It would be so handy to have the game and the soundtrack in the same place.

Google told me that you are probably missing a crucuial update if this error occurs. Maybe this helps:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2999226/update-for-universal-c-runtime-in-windows

On this site the users are pointed to the same update to resolve the posted error:

And me with no free time to play... I guess till weekend will have to wait.
I instabought it, because why the hell not, I felt in the mood for playing it tonight, and so far, I like the gameplay, characters and graphics, they do recapture a bit of that Lucasfilm Games / LucasArts feeling. But I didn't really laugh yet, and I wish they had refrained from breaking the fourth wall so often.

Some of the old games had occasional lines like that, too, but they were more like easter eggs, and IMO they weren't what made these adventures funny. Too much of that is what prevented Escape from Monkey Island from becoming a classic in my eyes, what actually made it unsufferable for me, and what made many of the post-LucasArts adventures by other companies seem rather imitative and unoriginal. A good adventure game doesn't need any meta comments about adventure games or references to other adventures or pop culture. I feel it's a bit overdone here. Hopefully, the story and puzzles will be enjoyable enough to make me look past those instances of forced humor.

How do you play it through the first time? Easy mode for discovering the story first and on the second run change to hard mode only for doing the puzzles not included in easy mode, as the game suggests, or do you start right off on hard mode? It's not possible to change difficulty modes during a playthrough. I'm not really sure what I'm missing when I choose easy mode and I don't know if the additional puzzles are worth a second playthrough, when you already know the story.

Heh, that's a first. We usually have the opposite situation ;D
