A night to remember.

Thimbleweed Park, a delightfully surreal point & click adventure by the creators of Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com!

This murder, it really ties the town together, man. A town already haunted by dark secrets and built on sins. Now five eccentric individuals will start poking around, each for their own reasons. Little do they know that they've become the unwitting catalysts for a fateful night full of bizarre events, brain-twisting puzzles, and weaponised sarcasm.

For some additional insight, check out our interview with Ron Gilbert, the mind behind Thimbleweed Park and a few other classics you may have heard of.

mk47at: I think the beeping gets a bit annoying. Sometimes there is only one word left in a sentence.

I've finished the game. You got my hope up that the ending of the GOG version was censored…

Leroux: Yeah, sorry, April's Fool and all that ... But you have my respect for finishing the game since I'm hopelessly stuck at the moment. ;)
Where?

I've managed to waste some time on puzzles with an obvious solution that cannot be solved at that particular moment.

With several puzzles in the third or fourth part. The annoying thing about it is not so much being stuck, but my reluctance in accepting any help, since so far one of the good things about it was that I always found a solution in the end, all by myself. But for the last two hours or so I didn't make much progress, mostly just walking around aimlessly, trying silly stuff or calling random backers on the phone for lack of anything else to do ...

mk47at: To what extent?

Leroux: Don't take any posts seriously today! There is a character in the game who's constantly swearing, and most of the swearwords are deliberately *beeped* over for comical effect. ;)

I'm only half-joking though, the constant beeping does sound kind of lame compared to what the actual cursing would sound like. ;P
I guess without the bleeping the game would have gotten an M-rating/17+ rating (for strong language), so they wanted to stick with a T-rating.
"DLC: Unbeep Thimbleweed!" incoming
game's very good. now where is my 14" monitor... meaning i'd love to play that on a tablet because the pixels skullfuck me :D

I think it's funnier with "beeps". It fits to the game. :)

I actually think that the game is very very beautiful.

For the people that are just beginning the game: the beginning is awful. Then it gets much much better.

I like the beginning.

I like the graphics, the music and most of the voice actors as well.

I do not like the ending.
low rated

Damn, now I'm sad. (What is it with adventure games and terrible endings?)

The beginning is awesome. I really, really like how they made me care for the protagonists and hate the villains.
Them: "You will never get a dead end or a premature game over, so no need to save! Yay for modern game design! That being said, we did things to maintain narrative tension."
Me: "Good to know, and haha nice try."
Me, five minutes later: YOU GENIUS BEEPING LITERAL DEVIL, WHYYYYYYYY

If the game does a "haha, joke's on you for having cared", it'd be doubleplusungood.
Curious how this game is

Yeah, apparantly the same happened to me as well. In some cases I already had a hunch how the puzzles would be solved, but it was the right solution at the wrong time. Pretty questionable design, IMO. If you can only solve these things in part 4, why does the game tell you to solve them in part 3 already?

In other cases though, I just missed some hotspots, e.g. because they were 'concealed' behind the spot where my character was always standing, or because they were a bit small ... Just like in the good ol' days. :P

Yeah, some of the puzzle design definitely needs to be updated. Still, overall I am very impressed with the game. I haven't completed it yet, but what I've played so far has been very good, even if some parts do need a bit of streamlining.
Well, now I've completed it, and I'm still very impressed. It's an excellent game, especially for fans of the old LucasArts adventures. I do hope they will continue to work on it in order to iron out a few of the design flaws, but even as it is, it was definitely worth the asking price for me.

Here's to hoping they'll make more games like this.
Honestly, I'd be a lot more interested in this if they characters heads weren't so frikken big. Why are the heads so big? This happens a lot in games and it's extremely annoying.

Because they were like that in the older games Thimbleweek Park is paying homage to. If that's putting you off already, you should skip it, because even though it's pretty good, it's also pure nostalgic fan service. And there are far more absurd things in it than big heads.
