This was DRM free on Epic, so not a surprise to see it here right away. I have it there, but I'll rebuy it in a deep sale someday probably.

If you expect New Vegas in space, you'll be disappointed. However if you expect an "indie Bethesda game" with a smaller scope, you'll probably enjoy it a good bit.

The Base Game was DRM-FREE on Epic, but Gorgon DLC is NOT.
You still need the Epic client to run Gorgon DLC.
See this thread - https://www.gog.com/forum/general/epic_store_games_you_can_play_without_the_epic_launcher/post258

Not sure if that has changed for the Epic version in an update today or anything, though...so, maybe someone else could speak on that?

I'm also curious how Gorgon DLC works w/ GOG Galaxy version. Does Gorgon work w/out Galaxy going? Does Gorgon run while offline?

Nothing would surprise me, after how No Man's Sky's DLC/updates/new content were handled on GOG.
See that thread on NMS GOG Version w/ its updates - https://www.gog.com/forum/general/no_mans_sky_isnt_fully_drmfree/page1

Instabuy. worth waiting to stay away from epic. I don't NEED any games day 1.

ReynardFox: You can snark on my after-the-fact critical view of Sega all you want... but it wouldn't have required futuresight to prevent a large number of Sega's most disastrous blunders, just basic management competence and internal communication.

The sheer volume of completely illogical, counter-productive things the company has done is huge, and they almost never seem to learn.

teceem: Still, (IMO) Sega isn't Commodore. Sure, some decisions might be considered bad management, while others were interesting risks that didn't turn out well. Even the best management isn't invulnerable to the whims of the market.
You've heard of those inventors that were ahead of their time, haven't you? Well, often you haven't - for exactly that reason.
You're not wrong, even the best screw up, but: Sega did develop two consoles at the same time due to a complete lack of communication between Sega Japan and America, followed by surprise launch of the Saturn console six months early, leaving it with almost no ready software. They hired Bernie Stolar after he got booted from Sony for his bad ideas... who then proceeded to screw up the Dreamcast launch, helped again by a lack of communication. Sega US passed up a Streets of Rage sequel because somehow the execs did not know one of their own, most beloved franchises even existed. They also turned down investments and help from Sony, then did the same to Microsoft and damaged trust by repeatedly ditching consoles mid life cycle.

It's honestly one bad idea/decision after another, but I should stop derailing the release thread. Though honestly I do think they give Commodore a run for their money, the major difference is that Sega has a few game franchises, retro re-releases and Japanese arcade investments that keep bringing in the cash regardless.

I was not expecting it to appear outside of Epic so soon, and certainly not here, instabought :-)
Reply: SEGA talk

Since we're on SEGA and all & since this Outer Worlds was made by Obsidian, I'm still waiting for that Obsidian-developed Aliens: Crucible RPG, which got cancelled...

Can anyone please confirm the Gorgon DLC is fully functional offline?

I mean it should be, but with the DLC being DRM'd on Epic along with the No Man's Sky debacle, I need to be absolutely sure before I shell out for such an expensive bundle.

Hmm, weird. Thought sure I played without Epic running after that. Maybe it stealth launched. Well, all the more reason to buy a collected version here in a couple years when it's $7.
Just bought it, but with 500kbytes/sec download on my 200Mbit connection.. It is going to take a while.. Why GOG so f%&% slow?

Let us know, if things have changed - i.e. if Gorgon actually works w/out Epic Launcher going.

We know the TOW base-game for sure works by itself without Epic Launcher going.
You just have access to Gorgon's content, unless Epic Store client-app's also running.

Any info would be awesome.

Especially w/ $10 coupons and all from Epic often offered up from the,, it could make decisions on where to buy TOW + its DLC's a lot easier, if it all does work offline and w/out Epic Launcher running in background.

Yep, I'd love to know this too.

Actually, I wanna know more than just on GOG, if possible.
Any PC platform would be great to know: Steam; Epic; and/or GOG.
I forgot how annoying that zoom in is when you start to sprint, I don't remember it being that bad when I played through the game on PS4. :P

I don't have enough SSD space to test it now, so someone else will probably get to it first. I'll keep an eye out though.

If you do get some SSD space or ever check it out, would be interested in hearing how things go.

Yeah, would be nice if there were some killer sales on SSD's sometime soon.
Glad this came here, was about to wishlist/buy in Steam.
