It's time to celebrate the 14 years of making games last forever. We're doing that by releasing one of the most anticipated games by the community – The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

The game is widely considered one of the best video games of all time and has received credit for popularizing large open-world role-playing games. After many requests from our users and being released on almost every appliance that is able to run the game, the acclaimed RPG is available on GOG in two versions – The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition (-50%) and Special Edition (-67%).

It is worth mentioning that Skyrim on GOG comes with a dedicated build, to give users the best possible adventure in Tamriel. The game is entirely playable offline thanks to GOG’s DRM-free nature and gives users the Anniversary Edition content without the need for Creation Club access.

As the game is recognized as one of the most modded titles in the history of video games, support for community-created content in Skyrim was one of our top priorities. The GOG version is compatible out of the box with most modifications mods via Nexus Mods Vortex v1.6.12 and newer. Support for mods requiring Skyrim Script Extender will be added later today. Additionally, GOG is preparing something special to provide an even smoother experience with mods – expect more details soon.

Take the chance to travel to Tamriel before the discounts on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim editions end on 13th October, 10 PM UTC. Also, join us in celebration of the 14th GOG Anniversary which will last until October 9th, 2022, at 10 PM UTC.
Heh, I've actually been doing my first Skyrim replay in years on Steam recently. Cool it's finally here.

For those wondering I actually recommend the anniversary content. I expected it to be cheat items thrown at your feet at level one, but after the anniversary edition update you actually discover things in the world 90% of the time and the times it's a courier they're spaced out by level. Yes none of it has new voice acting, but Skyrim already has a lot radiant quests with no unique voices, so it doesn't stand out TOO badly.

J Lo: I wonder if this would stop the Skyrim posts in the General Forum...
Certainly not.

Syphon72: I'm dyslexic and understood the subject field just fine.
Misunderstanding + coming here to call GOG "liars" = Trolliosis

J__Player: Does the Special Edition come WITHOUT the DLCs Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn?
If it is like console (which I believe is the case... fingers crossed)...

... the Special Edition contains contains all three dlcs and a general upgrade in graphical quality from the original release.

The Anniversary Edition contains all three dlcs, a larger upgrade in graphical quality than Special Edition, and integration of Creation Club.

Whether Anniversary Edition and Creation Club is worth it vs simply modding Special Edition? I can't say.

Anyone have ideas on that? What's better IYO...

Special Edition or Anniversary?

zlaywal: Finally people could stop spamming Skyrim on every new release thread.
I'd start spamming Return to Monkey Island in every new release thread, but I guess people would kill me. And they'd be right.

But it's so great seeing a bit of a positive reaction here of a change, it's difficult not to just be happy for people.

Ah well, let's bring these positive reactions into what I call "the green zone".

It comes with them, but they can be disabled from the main menu if you just want to play the basegame.

Are you sure about that?

in the "unofficially" confirmed thread I was reminded of fortune_p_dawg's "OBLIVION!!111" meme (and brussel sprouts). Haven't seen him lately but maybe he already posted. Still, if not, "SKYRIM!!!111!!!11!!!!!!!!111!1!!11"

Oh Todd, you did it.

You released Skyrim on every gaming console, toaster, microwave and fridge and now it finally also arrived on GOG!
Better late than never, I guess ^^

Holy frozen hell on this flat frisbee of a planet.
Well, congratulations for the deal Good Old Games. :)

If you guys got sucessfully Bethesda most used gold mine, I hope this means that all the other old games are indeed coming here too.
Specially games from 2008~ 2015, which can be considered 'Good Old Games' too. :)
I have never played Skyrim before but compared to Morrowind and Oblivion it seems like the only thing going for it is better graphics. Nothing else really.
I have been waiting for years for this day to come! I refused to buy the game on Steam and have been waiting for it to come to GOG especially since literally all the other games have been on here for...well years now. Finally I legally own a DRM Free copy of every Elder Scrolls game to date that I care to own.
Kind of thinking that it's been long enough that I wanted this game on here that I am not sure I care anymore, but at least it's here I suppose.
