liquidsnakehpks: anyone whos played and finished risen 1 aka 40 hours of joy , will be crushed playing this sequel . they really let the fans down with this one hope another risen game revives the franchise.
I can't agree on this. While I did like the first Risen better, I still had a ton of fun with the second. I honestly don't understand all the extreme negativity surrounding Risen 2. I thought it was still a decent game in its own right.

Bugs won't be fixed since the devs don't give feces.

Other than that, it is a pretty standard RPG. Would rate it around 7/10 from the few hours I played it. An annoying thing is you need at least two playthroughs to have seen everything since the game splits at a point.

The spoilts been active and known for around 1.5-2 years and it was a coding error that was more because the dev was "impatient" and tried to do his own thing... would have been a basic DOS had he not been in a hurry. That said you need to pivot in a 64k address space and snag whatever you want... its unlikly that any certs but a small few were taken.

The big thing now is phishing scams... Facebook, yahoo and google are patched and good so they should be priority one for new passwords. other then that protect your email like its your life and 2 factor all the things!

TLDR: the bad guys know about it and if gog was a target its to late, you can always do a one time PayPal they do free burner accounts.

That may all very well be true, but to be honest, as long as I don't get a confirmation from a blue text that it#s safe to buy from GOG.com, I just don't wanna risk it.

Is it normal that it takes that long to renew the certificates? To me as a layman it doesn't sound like anything that should take much of your time.

It's the same with Witcher 2 or wiith the different endings of Mass Effect. The only problem is that once I finish a RPG I never find the will to play it again.

As regards comparisons with Risen 1 (decent game) I found 2 to be more fun, the second half of Risen is a pretty crap Fed Ex simulator (imo).

Excuse my french, but what is this nonsense about requiring DirectX 9.1c? Afaik 9.0c was the last label for said iteration, maybe they mean it needs the latest patches (June 2010 I think were the last one).

Underrated game. The end sections are way too linear but otherwise it's a fun Piranha Bytes game with exploration and sarcasm aplenty. The gunplay was particularly fun for me in an RPG, and the colonial setting was unique and enjoyable.

I am bummed they added the cheat DLC "pirate's clothes." I know many would have complained it wasn't "complete" without it, but the blunt truth is that kind of "awesome armor at the start!" DLC throws off game balance and is completely retarded.

Anyway... I have this on Steam and while I prefer DRM free its going to have to come down a bit in price for me to rebuy it.

I haven't downloaded the base game yet to see whether the DLC installer allows for selecting DLC, but either way it looks like the DLC can be selectively enabled in ConfigDefault.xml after installing the DLC pack (the config file has entries like DLC1="true"). The DLC pack is an additional download so it's also possible to buy the Gold Edition and then play without any DLC if preferred.
