Outrunning oppression.

Mirror's Edge™, the energetic free-running action game with the striking visual design, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 50% launch discount.

The gleaming, utopian appearance of the city cannot fool Faith. She's seen how things are run around here, with everyday activity being monitored closely and sensitive pieces of information constantly changing hands high above the oblivious citizens. Now her sister is being framed for a crime she didn't commit and Faith must employ every bit of her resourcefulness and parkour talents to run the rooftops, avoid the authorities, and expose the truth.
The revolutionary first-person running mechanics and intense hand-to-hand combat make Mirror's Edge™ into a spectacular action romp, boosted by its pristine aesthetics and unmatched sense of flow. Leap, climb, race, and slide across the dangerous cityscape, always staying mindful of your surroundings and occasionally being ready to flee rather than fight, when the situation grows desperate.

Navigate Faith through high-speed chases atop the city's skyscrapers and discover what's hiding behind the Mirror's Edge™, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 50% discount will last until September 29, 12:59 PM UTC.

GR00T: but I'm not willing to be soaked by companies that finally deign to offer their old and regularly sale priced games DRM-free.
Then don't.
It seems that EA is finally learning....

Instabuy :)

By the way, the full price in Argentina is 6,19 and the discounted is 3,09

barleyguy: I have the same question. I actually own this on PS3, but will buy it again for my GOG collection if it's a better version.

Also, will all of you PLEASE quit bitching about the price? Seriously, I spent $6 on beverages yesterday, and it's not like we're comparing apples to apples since this is the only place you can get this DRM Free. I really don't like it when a thread turns to a bunch of people whining about a $5 price difference when we could be discussing the quality of the actual game. </rant off>

GR00T: Sorry it offends you
It DOES offend me that this whole stupid thread is about the price rather than the game. Seriously, shut up.

Leroux: Seems like a misunderstanding. Apparantly the games are this expensive across all stores in the US, DRM-free or not (and GOG is using US prices as a base). Which doesn't make this any better, just saying it doesn't seem to be related to DRM. Although as a side effect, you're still better off in Europe if you don't mind DRM, since GOG is the only store that uses the high US prices here.
It's just so stupid isn't it ?

IronArcturus: Does Mirror's Edge work with an Xbox 360 controller?
yes
Wishlisted for now as EA are all about the cash grab right now. On the one hand, it's very nice and encouraging to see more EA games being released on GOG (and DRM-free), but paying such a high premium for old games doesn't sit very well with me. I reserve insta-buy status mostly to games I've played and worshipped at the alter of. ;P

Also, The Saboteur passed me by with nary a glimpse of recognition (my last Playsation was a PS2), and Mirror's Edge, being first-person perspective is not a favourite genre. I'm thinking about Spore...

*fingers crossed*
Mass Effect. Mass Effect. Mass Effect. If that trilogy were to appear here, it might well be an insta-buy, even at EA cash-grab prices.

matoro1992: Also, I was wondering if it's easy to run this game on Linux through wine?
I've seen two videos of people trying to run it through Wine. One a while ago seemed to run acceptably, I think, but had green-tinted textures. Don't take my word for it, please, check for a video yourself. In a more recent video the game performed very poorly in Wine with a low frame rate. the texture glitch was gone, though, there were some other graphic glitches.

The game can apparently run perfectly, but that may depend on your computer, the "PhysX" option may often be the cause of the performance problems.

doomdoom11: I already have it on 360. Is it worth getting again?
I bought the PS3 version many years ago, just got the 360 version for free through Games With Gold... and I still bought this DRM-free PC version. It's a fun game that I plan on playing long after my PS3 and 360 are dead & buried.

If that sounds like your situation, then yes, it's worth getting again.

But sountrack must be added. Really

matoro1992: This is awesome! I wonder what other EA classics we're going to get from GOG. Please let it be Mass Effect series next!

Also, I was wondering if it's easy to run this game on Linux through wine?
Yes please! Also the rest of Dragon Age
I already got it on cd. But can I redeem the serial to get this drm free version in my library?
Just like Stalker?

barleyguy: Seriously, shut up.
I decline your polite request. Game is overpriced.
I bought this on Steam for £2.99 GBP in the last sale, so i don't really want to spend £7.49 GBP here.

Waiting for the GOG price to drop under £5, and i am in no rush at all.

cadillac25jg: Another great EA release! After Dead Space, Dragon Age, and this... I'm really hoping Mass Effect and Battlefield are around the corner.

huan: I wouldn't say no to the ME trilogy, but that's a tall order. The third part is heavily tied to Origin. And getting only 1 or 1+2 would feel weird. ME1 works as standalone game, but only as long as you don't know there are two sequels that directly continue the story.

Still, good to have some potential obsessions in store for the time when we finally get that Oblivion/Skyrim/Fallouts obsession out of the way :)
Spore had some horrendous drm when originally released, and it made it here. I'm just hoping they GOG/EA puts in that same effort with the Mass Effect trilogy *crosses fingers*

And agreed: I'd lose my mind when Oblivion, Skyrim, and Fallout 3/New Vegas make it here.
