Just scorching the surface.

Metal Fatigue is now available DRM-free, only on GOG.com.
Advanced, abandoned, fully functional alien technology. That's what was waiting for us in distant stars. We collected, studied, and reassembled it as best we could... and then we used it to destroy each other, RTS-style. Take control of three mega corporations as they clash in fully-3D battlefields, using customizable mechs made from the spare parts the mysterious Hedoth left behind. But remember: the planet's surface is not your only concern, general. Enemies can come from underground or descend from orbit.
Hell yeah! First seen this game on insidegaming

Inside Gaming played Metal Fatigue? Let me know if you find the episode.
The best part* of this release it that MF is "licensed by" Psygnosis... Soooo... Any more Psygnosis releases coming soon™? (cough, cough, Discworld, cough, cough).

* Not exactly, MF is great game and it's nice that has been pulled out of "licensing limbo". Just wanted to point out above, there are so many good Psygnosis games to bring back :).

It's gonna be hard but it was on the demo disc episodes. I forgot which one it was but I am a little lazy to skim through 198 or something episodes to find it haha X(

it was great though, maybe when I get free time I will skin through some eps and see if I come across it and if I do I will link it here.

Edit, Just found out it was funhaus not inside gaming, they did the steam wheel thing at the time. but yeah still a crap ton eps to look through X_X

Never bought a game so fast in my life! Thanks to the GoG team for bringing this classic back! Game ran flawlessly (so far). Two missions into the first campaign and full Skirmish match (against AI) and it ran as smooth as this oldie can run haha.

Thanks again and have a great time.

Oh yeah, Funhaus' Demo Disc makes a lot more sense.

MobiusArcher: Its enough for me, but... Honestly, I think all RTS games from that era aged pretty poorly, and are not fun anymore. Even the ones that end in "Craft". That genre has REALLY come a long way.
Frankly I have no idea what you're talking about when you say that the genre has come a long way since back then considering almost all good RTS games got there by taking lessons from the first StarCraft which, in my opinion, has aged better than almost any other game from that era and, probably most will say, wasn't surpassed until StarCraft II came along which didn't even differ that much from StarCraft 1 (and I'm saying that as someone who doesn't even like the "Craft" games that much personally and will take Dawn of War or Company of Heroes over them any day).

And as for "not fun" - well, opinions. I still enjoy the heck out of almost any Westwood RTS and many other early RTS titles like Total Annihilation, KKND, Dark Reign, Z, Populous: The Beginning or Earth 2150. Metal Fatigue just really doesn't compare favourably to those, in my eyes.

Sorry. No doubt I could have been more clear that I was speaking only for myself. I I suppose the main thing for me is how RTS games have cut out or streamlined the whole base building thing. After playing something like Wargame, I have a hard time going back to old style RTS games. They just feel like so much busy work now.

I can understand where you are coming from but a lot of us enjoy base building and I find Wargame really boring cause you have nothing to do besides moving your units and telling them what to do. Its really just a realtime tactical game and not a realtime strategy game.

Im not completely against base building. I just don't like the slow grind of older RTS games. Or something like that. I cant find the words right now. I guess Dawn of War was probably the turning point for me. That game made the base building really fun and fast paced, and it pulled that off without dumbing it down any. It was a very influential game too. It had a pretty big impact on RTS game design going forward.

I love mechs so much that Im willing to ignore the stuff I don't normally care for though. I think that might have been what I was originally trying to say before I ruined everything.

Kaeoschassis: Well this was one heck of a pleasant surprise to log in to.

It's no exageration to say that this is one of a tiny handful of games I've been waiting and wishing for GOG to get since I first joined. It's an absolute classic that should have never been lost to obscurity in the first place and I really hope this re-release will get it the second look it deserves. Either way, I know what I'll be buying as soon as I have money to burn.

To everyone who made this happen, sincerely, thankyou so much.
Same here.

We are working on securing the source code so we can improve the game and fix the various bugs that are being reported. We've got a pretty good lead on it but will need to have some old data tapes read and copied to a (current) hard drive before we can take a look.

We're very happy to hear everyone is enjoying the release :)
