Just scorching the surface.

Metal Fatigue is now available DRM-free, only on GOG.com.
Advanced, abandoned, fully functional alien technology. That's what was waiting for us in distant stars. We collected, studied, and reassembled it as best we could... and then we used it to destroy each other, RTS-style. Take control of three mega corporations as they clash in fully-3D battlefields, using customizable mechs made from the spare parts the mysterious Hedoth left behind. But remember: the planet's surface is not your only concern, general. Enemies can come from underground or descend from orbit.
Does the GOG version have windowed mode?

IronArcturus: Does the GOG version have windowed mode?
There's currently no way to run it in windowed mode I think.
avatar
Thiev: No idea, but we will check tomorrow ;) It might be related to OS language, regional settings or any combination of both.
But do let me know if that change works for you, please ;)

F4LL0UT: Since you're here: did you guys include the music from both discs? And does it automatically play correctly for each faction?
avatar
MobiusArcher: Yea, but... You know its got mechs, right?
avatar
F4LL0UT: Yeah, they don't quite save the game, though, do they...

And yet I'm inclined to buy the GOG version and give it another try. There's something really sinister going on with that game.

If it comes with nGlide you can switch it with Alt+Enter.
Great releases! Has anyone tried Metal Fatigue or the Fallen Haven games with Wine?

eiii: Great releases! Has anyone tried Metal Fatigue or the Fallen Haven games with Wine?
No, but that's because I'm a teetotaller. I'd be willing to try it with some grape juice.
Holy crap!

This game has been impossible to get for fifteen years, and I have been actively trying!

Thank you GOG!
For my two cents, make sure you're not running it under Vista. :P

Even though, the game does run on Vista; it's completely broken. Campaign, Skirmish, and even Multiplayer will not start. It's really the only Windows OS to have such issues as Windows 98 through XP as well as Windows 7 and later work fine.

This is considering I have a retail copy. :D

Anyhow, it's very nice to see this game on GOG.com. It's a great game to play. ;)
Thank you GOG for this release, keep up the good fight!

I remember TotalBiscuit talking about Metal Fatigue, and about how much he loved it, and yet couldn't get it to work. I wonder if he ever managed to replay it before it was too late.
Hm, I somehow missed out on this RTS game. Never heard of it before. But will definitely get it.

RadonGOG: Doesn´t mean a thing. Ultima IX supports everything as well, but the shots shown on the gamecard don´t show it off. (there are many other examples as well)
Of course it does. This game has hard-coded 5:4/4:3 resolutions. Cannot modify/change it.

Here is a solid explanation of the game mechanics and some gameplay:

I was only reacting to the last thing you´ve said ("look at the screenshots") and as I´ve pointed out they don´t mean a thing.

But thanks anyways. That´s a sad thing...

Yes, you are right.
Looking at the screenshots doesn't mean anything, because normally, they can and should be other options. But sadly there arent really.

As they wrote here:
https://www.play-old-pc-games.com/2015/12/08/metal-fatigue/

Look at section "Tweaking visual quality"

A quote from there:

"Metal Fatigue does not support widescreen screen modes at all, so you will need to choose the resolution from the list on the left that most closely matches your monitor. 1600×1200 isn’t a great fit for a 1080p panel, for instance, so don’t be surprised if things don’t look so good at that resolution. Don’t be afraid to try one or two options here, you may find that the higher resolutions result in graphics that are too small to see, particularly if you’re gaming on your HDTV rather than at a monitor."

AHH! I've wanted to play this for years, but for some reason this was one game that, once I got off windows XP, never wanted to run again. Graphical glitches all over the place and thus my disk version has sat in the case for years. Fantastic to see GOG get hold of this title - it is still a very neat mech warrior RTS game. Ahh the joys of tearing arms off other mechs; popping off your own arm and attaching theirs and then bringing it back to take apart and build your own versions of it!
