This is how a new age of epic fantasy RPGs was spawned.

Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition, which marked the triumphant resurgence of epic party-based RPGs, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 60% launch discount.

Some RPG enthusiasts enjoy customizing their character and carefully picking their travelling companions based on both their personalities and combat skills. Some enjoy dark, engaging narratives with branching elements and dozens of side-quests. Others just want to hack at giant dragons and demonic hordes. Dragon Age: Origins walked the extra mile, also letting players shape their legendary Grey Warden by playing through their unique backstory. The whirlwind of wild magic, gruesome battles, complex politics, tough moral choices, and dramatic moments that ensued helped cement this epic adventure as one of the most influential ones in recent memory. And that was even before that night when Morrigan approached you with a certain offer...

Gather your party of memorable NPCs and venture against the tides of darkness in Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 60% launch discount will last until July 21, 12:59 PM UTC.

squareinc: There's a post on the GOG Dragon Age forums on how to download and the Collector's Edition DLC from Bioware for free. With that it should be the complete game without anything missing.
Look here to complete the missing items of the GoG version for free

we should all be thankful Nintendo gave the rest something to push them into doing something..

with something as stupid as Pokemon Go.. for free no less..

should be enough to get more on the bandwagon.

GOG should talk to the guys that did bloodbowl, and get the previous version of that, the one with 23 teams in the original release, just to rub in their faces how terrible the marketting is in the new version.

I own it on steam already, would buy one here too, but not the new one.. (Blood Bowl: Chaos Edition is the best version)
they have even stooped so low as to worry about selling us more mobile teams for android just to cover their loss on the new blood bowl, and ignoring fixing the actual flaws in the game, better hit em up before it is too late and they are done, cause it won't be long.

just another example of how Nintendo is shaping our gaming world.

Dragon Age: Origins is one of my favourites, so I'm really glad that it's arrived on GOG!
(and honestly, this is something that I never expected to happen)

Woolytoes: Well, according to WineHQ DA:O has a Platinum rating. Which means it should run fine. But the install fails at ~80% with an runtime error.
A runtime error at the end of the installation process is a general issue with GOG installers. After clicking OK you will normally get the message that the installation was successful.

The game runs fine for me.

EDIT: If that 80% refers to the installer's progress bar, it's not necessarily accurate. In many cases GOG installers make jumps, especially at the end, when they check for installed libraries. I think these checks are the main reason for the runtime errors. Generally the games have been installed already though.

Anyway before any of us has made a complete playthrough nothing is guaranteed.

Nirth: 10 playthroughs?! I managed 2 and the second one was entirely because I wanted to step up the difficulty - I played on Hard and yet, my first playthrough was more challenging because, as I said earlier, I was new to cRPGs back then. I can see many aspects gets old if you play that many times. As for the labyrinth feel, I liked it but I have always liked labyrinths, they are a symbol of the fact that no one has a compass of where to go on in life all the time - to accept you're lost, may help you find your way.

Bah.. I kind of want to replay the game again but I've to give Pillars of Eternity another try to see if I really want to play it now.
Yeah I think I have nearly15 playthroughs total. I tend to play the game 2-3 times a year. I have a boatload of mods to spice things up, though. :P So these days I tend to skip stuff like the Fade, and I also have a mod that lets me skip Ostagar since I can't always be bothered to play through it. And I do like labyrinths, in literature and poetry, just not in games usually. :P

Pillars is pretty good, I enjoyed playing through that.

I have no idea how you can replay the same stuff that many times. Nowadays it's rare I even bother with a 2nd replay, let alone finish my first playthrough but I've a dwindling interest (or perhaps mood?) for video gaming nowadays sadly.

Me too, haven't read the one in your link though, I'll take a peek.

Ha! So you're already up to 2 RPGs that was at least decent enough for you to mention them. This is why I thought it was so weird to call DOA the only good RPG since it was released. :P

Some games are just too good not to finish them multiple times but still you need time for doing that. I personally finished the Shadowrun games 3 times each . But yeah, replaying games is often duo to : 1. Game being too good 2. Lack of other good games to play 3. Free time.
Thanks for this game! I have waited too long to get this game as DRM-free.

I don't mean to be impolite, but your post doesn't appear to have anything to do with Dragon Age Origins' release on GOG. Maybe it was meant for another thread?

Midoryu
Even though it's not likely I'll play DA:O I was unable to ignore it. Bought! :D

I replay my favorites over and over. I also reread my favorite books all the time and rewatch my favorite movies. Sometimes it's nice to have something comfortable and familiar you know you will enjoy. :P

It's from Edwin Muir, a Scottish poetry. I studied him last year and this was the first thing that popped into my mind when we were talking about labyrinths. :P

Oh, I do play new RPGs as well and some of them are very good. DA: O is definitely not the only RPG I enjoy. :P

For me, It's more "It's not likely I'll play DA:O in the next two weeks." (estimated time needed to download during unmetered usage time) but soo bought
I caved in and bought it even though I already bought an Origin code during this past winter sale, and it will probably be discounted more by the time I get around to playing it. I was back and forth on whether or not to give EA more money for something I already own, but then I figured if they see good sales on these, they might bring more games to GOG (Mass Effect) in the future.

blotunga: There were some if I remember right that I had to get from illegal sources. Like Collector's Edition, and DAO_PRC_PROMO_1-5

KneeTheCap: Illegal? Nope, they were officially released for free by Bioware themselves. But as I said before, I don't know if they're still available.

Edit. Ah, they're here http://social.bioware.com/da2/dlc_bundle/
If I missed it, sorry for a duplicate post. Does anyone know if there are included in the GOG version?

EDIT: I saw this reply later in the posts from a blue member: "It contains all DLCs and all items included in Promotional Items Pack on Origin."

Was asked and answered plenty of times, but your best bet is this thread on the game forum. Lists everything, specifying the few not included and how to get them.
