Blizzard Entertainment and GOG.COM have teamed up to rerelease select classic Blizzard games, beginning with Diablo®, Blizzard’s legendary 1996 action role-playing game that introduced players to the harsh—and deeply rewarding—world of Sanctuary.

The original Diablo® is available now via digital distribution for the first time ever on GOG.COM. Players looking for the authentic Diablo experience can play the game as it was in 1996, with period-appropriate 20 FPS SVGA graphics, and the ability to matchmake through the classic version of Blizzard’s Battle.net® online-gaming service.

Blizzard and GOG.COM have collaborated on an updated version of the game, which includes out-of-the-box Windows 10 compatibility, and a host of bug fixes. Players can choose either version of the game from a launcher.

guar: I used to play the hell out of this some years ago. To the point that the CD exploded in my disc drive..
*Achievement Unlocked* - You've literally played this game to death!
I know that's a classic but isn't the price inadequate? I mean you can get modern classics for those amounts of money and will most likely be better off. I mean at this point Diablo has mostly nostalgia value, and $10 just doesn't sound reasonable for that.
I hope this opens the doors for other Blizzard titles on GOG but I am going to wait for a sale to get this one, even though I want to throw money at them for making this first important step (both Blizzard and GOG).
I'm trying to reinstall Diablo 2 right now from Blizzard, see if I can't get around an odd graphic bug that it had last time I played, but battle.net's download is a trickle right now.
Thanks GOG!!!

but OMG - I am so torn!! I want to support GOG for freeing this classic game from the clutches of Activision but I never want to play it again, I already sank enough time into this back then...

Huh. A nearly quarter century old granddaddy of all traffic gridlock simulators without the expansion content for the low low price of twice what a comparable game of its age would run, you say? Neat.

Ill pass, but I do genuinely hope this opens the door for more high profile blizzard games to be added here in the near future. Not that I have any personal interest in anything Blizzard has ever made, but Its good for those who want to play those types of games.

We're streaming the updated version of Diablo in 10 minutes at twitch.tv/gogcom!
(And we have more streams later today and tomorrow!)
THANKS very much for this retrogaming pearl and its full compatibility with W10, but HELLFIRE is missing!!! I hope You will add it soon. I loved the game, but it looks incomplete to me without venturing deeper in Hell with Monk or the hidden Barbarian & Bard. There was also a sort of DLC content, The Green Portal Data Disk if I am correct. It hadn't new contents, just new items and spells etc... But maybe I am asking too much with that.
Instabuy - now I have a legitimate copy again that will not break like my CD all those years back

grinninglich: What about Hellfire expansion?
forget about Hellfire
Blizzard does not accept it, it's not canon
So, GOG.com really did die, went to Hell and came back with this demonic gift?!?
