Brick out these construction plans.

Craft The World, a sandbox strategy game where you build your own dwarf fortress, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com for Windows and Mac with GOG Galaxy support for achivements and multiplayer and a 50% launch discount.

Conquering the world can be a pretty epic and thrilling undertaking, but it usually leaves you saddled with the resources and constructions of its previous owner(s). Where's the fun in that? Play God instead, and manage your own tribe of laborious dwarves as they build a home for themselves on a randomly generated island, full of opportunities and untapped real estate potential.

Mine the surface and subsurface world for resources, build a fortress fit for a vertically challenged king, and defeat any malicious creatures that want to claim it for themselves. Grow your dwarf workforce, craft them better weapons and equipment but also provide them with food, furniture, ammunition, and decent living conditions. And if you Craft The World as impressive as your divine powers allow, be prepared to use your magic in order to discourage the hordes of monsters that will come pouring through portals to bang at your doors.

Craft The World as sturdy, stylish, and efficient as you please, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 50% discount will last until February 10, 1:59 PM GMT.

Damasceno88: Cant take resources of byomes?
Edit: I completely misunderstood your question, sorry. For an explanation of why you cannot remove certain resources from a biome please see the attached image. It is a screen shot of the in-game Notes page 16. See the section surrounded in red.

I understand this question to mean you can't mine or cut trees??

Assuming you have the correct tools equipped to dig and cut trees and with limited info about your OS my first suggestion would be as follows:

On the game card CtW is listed as Windows XP compatible which means it may need DirectX 9 to run correctly. Win 7 and up needs to have DirectX 9 installed manually for some games to work. If your OS is Win 7 or above and have not installed DirectX 9 . . . doing so MIGHT fix the problem.

The installer can be downloaded here.

After the download, create a new directory, right click the directx_Jun2010_redist.exe and run it as an Admin and have it extract to your newly created directory. After extraction, go to the extraction directory, right click the setup exe and run it as an Admin. It will install the necessary files to enable DirectX 9. No interface will appear after the install as none is needed. You can delete the extraction directory after the install. Open CtW and give it a try. Hope this helps??

What the heck? The game won't even launch when I block the internet access... it crashes at once -.-

Shoddy programming. Blocking internet access stops the process used to handle network connections - causing it to error out. The game doesn't know what to do and freezes instead of error-handling in a way that allows it to continue to run. Sucks I know but also more common than I would like.

Yeah... but that is not what I expect from my gog games. Already wrote to support about that.

Wait really?
That's ridiculous.

Yep. I am quite annoyed with that. If gog does not fix it they should at least write on the gamepage that an internet connection is required to play (which I personally don't consider DRM free anymore).
Are you guys talking about MP?

I'm totally confused.

For the record, I play on a computer that is always offline and I was able to play without any issues at all. Didn't notice anything wrong...

I have this game installed and running perfectly on a machine that has never been connected to the internet. So their gamecard isn't disingenuous. I hope support can help you.

Edit: Well, now I feel like an echo. :)

Unplug/disable your NIC and try it again. Presumably that works hence tremere110's "Shoddy programming" comment.

Yeah. But your computer is always offlline. Mine isn't. I just blocked the "trying to phone home" attempt in the firewall. Meaning that as soon as there is a connection it wants to connect and does not work when it is not allowed to...
I just pulled my internet connection and the game still worked fine.

I am no expert but if the firewall is doing the blocking then the game is not getting a reply that basically states "Nope no internet here, please carry on" and that is why people who do not have their PCs connected to the net and are NOT blocking the game via their firewall are not experiencing this issue because the game sees that there is no internet and carries on.

if the game does not get told that there is no internet to be found and is waiting for a reply for too long then it may crash because of that.

Which is just ridiculous. So either you need to unplug your internet or the game insists on a connection. Freaking piece of shit. I already regret spending money on this.

I seem to recall another game that had an outbound connection to 127.0.0.1 as a requirement to work. If you didn't have internet, said connection would still go through, and the game would work, but if you blocked it through the firewall, the game couldn't find itself, thus crashed. Could this be a similar case?
