Standing the test of time.

Caesar & Caesar II, two solid building blocks of the city-building genre, are now available, DRM-free on GOG.com!

From the ancient, almost-top-down visuals of the original to the far more detailed isometric cities of Caesar II, these are the games that successfully introduced a strong historical context into the city-building strategy games. Aspiring to become Caesar is the ultimate motivation but bettering the lives of your little Romans by setting up sensible infrastructure, proper entertainment, or impressive monuments, never stops being fun.

Dungy69: So it has been 3 weeks of Activision classics in a row.
Swat 4, Freddy Pharkas, and now Caesar 1 & 2.

Here's hoping the following weeks will be:
Conquest of Camelot, Conquest of the Longbow, Codename: Iceman
Laura Bow 1 & 2
Manhunter 1 & 2
Hi-Res Adventures 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6, and Softporn. :P

Sierra adventure games defined my childhood.
Make it happen GOG!
Softporn is actually part of the Leisure Suit Larry collection we got floating around :P
Great to see them here. If only I wasn't so overly obsessed with C3 I would probably check them out.

Oh yeah, forgot about that. Stand-alone freebie? The original author clearly loved freebies.

Well, we still need the Hi-Res adventures. They're the first graphical adventure games, and they helped define nearly 40 years of adventure gaming history. The question is how does GOG feel about packaging games with an Apple II emulator. :P
Btw thank you GOG for classic release. Time to add few more entry to my wishlist.

Grew figs everywhere and suddenly flood rushed in.
Build buildings but forgot wells. Suddenly fire started at a corner and burned whole city.

So you have played 1 and 2?

Dungy69: and Softporn. :P
i forget which larry it is - might be the larry 1+2+3 pack, but i /believe/ one of them gives you softporn.

[i just checked my library and it's there. hold on while i make sure, for you.]

yup. from the store page for the larry series:

Includes Leisure Suit Larry 1-6 (LSL 6 is in VGA and SVGA), the VGA remake of Leisure Suit Larry 1, and Softporn Adventure.
caesar 2 had even more charm for me than caesar 3! despite of the fact caesar 3 is definitely excelent game too
Awesome releases! Thanks Activision and gog!

Please keep up the good work, bringing more missing Sierra titles. I'm hoping the magnificent Hunter Hunted is also on the radar. It would also be awesome if gog could complete their earlier Sierra collections (i.e. add the VGA versions of Space Quest 1 and King's Quest 1)

Martian12: Gog's on fire, many oldies have been released already during 2017. Keep it up!

These two are not my cup of tea but they are strong releases in any case.
Yes they are good strong games, but require to much 'planning' its more like watching a interactive movie with some click actions.

I thought it would be age of empires classic but in a different setting, but it looks like Zeus + Poseidon (Acropolis) which i already own.

I guess this would be a time consuming game and it will take some time before anything happens, with the Zeus + Poseidon (Acropolis) i had tons of plagues, fires no matter what i did to prevent it.

Thats why i stick with point and click adventure , these requiring some thinking and searching for clues and combining / using objects.

Age of empires classics (not the 3d) was fun building and attacking/ defending the home cities.
Games like jagged alliance (classics) also had a good story and it had good voice overs, funny interactions like the one where Elliot gets a hole in his head because the queen gets mad, and later on he comes back with an extra air hole in his head and doesnt know he should not be walking around cause he got wasted.
Those game are fun , good story and actions, all the manager like games are boring after a few minutes.

Baldurs gate (classic) commandos (classic) Dune, Dune 2000, red alert 1+2 yuris revenge, c & c (classics no 3d) all good games with plenty of missions and videos, game like these arent developed anymore and that is sad.
Games like Gorky 17 also good games.

Hooray. It´s good to see that Activision continues to throw in some classics. Hoping that other major publishers will make their long time return as well.
Very cool to finally see these here and all but wasn't Caesar 1 freeware at one point?
I know these things can change - just look at Dragonsphere but I did kinda think Caesar 1 would be free when it turned up, or at least bundled with the second one
i'm still glad to see it here at all though...

There are so many really good old games out there, still working and a lot can be fixed (dos games) but will probably never arrive here.

I am 99% intrested in good old games, latest games are available everywhere, they work on the latest windows and hardware so the old not working games are the ones i am looking for.
