Standing the test of time.

Caesar & Caesar II, two solid building blocks of the city-building genre, are now available, DRM-free on GOG.com!

From the ancient, almost-top-down visuals of the original to the far more detailed isometric cities of Caesar II, these are the games that successfully introduced a strong historical context into the city-building strategy games. Aspiring to become Caesar is the ultimate motivation but bettering the lives of your little Romans by setting up sensible infrastructure, proper entertainment, or impressive monuments, never stops being fun.
Great games, looking forward to playing them again!

does anyone know how the original game compares to AMIGA version?

No doubt, Activision making difference with continual classic releases among PC gaming.
So far, 2017 really has been one hell of a year on GOG! Don't stop the good old game releases! :)
Do these have the "Cultural Rating" problem the others do which leads a player to plop down five theaters in one block just to make quota? :P

How do Caesar 1&2 compare to Caesar 3? The third game of the serie was my favorite city-builder back in time (I liked it more than Pharaoh and Zeus).
Awesome! Unfortunately, I'm flat broke.

IMHO, you can definitely skip the first one as the series only got really popular back then with the second episode.
I could never stand Caesar 1. Even on the Amiga back in 1993 I found the interface to be incredibly clunky and the city-building to be unbearably intransparent in terms of collecting data to respond to problems.

Caesar 2 on the other hand is one of my favourite city builders of all times and was a tremendous improvement over the first game, so much so that Caesar 3 really didn't change much over the second one. It was one of the few city builders that actually gave you the feeling that your city layout affected how people lived and worked.

Good to see more Activision stuff here anyway. I still have my working Caesar 2 CD (playing it right now in fact) and money's tight, so I'll pass for now, but will probably pick both up when they're on sale at some point.

Ah, you just broke my dreams ! :) Its pixel graphics has already enchanted me...
Awesome, thanks Activision and GOG!

Shouldn't Caesar 3 be part of the "Buy Series" deal, though, instead of just 1, 2 and 4?
Gog's on fire, many oldies have been released already during 2017. Keep it up!

These two are not my cup of tea but they are strong releases in any case.
So it has been 3 weeks of Activision classics in a row.
Swat 4, Freddy Pharkas, and now Caesar 1 & 2.

Here's hoping the following weeks will be:
Conquest of Camelot, Conquest of the Longbow, Codename: Iceman
Laura Bow 1 & 2
Manhunter 1 & 2
Hi-Res Adventures 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6, and Softporn. :P

Sierra adventure games defined my childhood.
Make it happen GOG!

Absolutely not my cup of tea but it's still good to see more old games on GOG, especially after Tuesday's lame releases. :D
