Hellfire expansion is now available as a free add-on for everyone who purchases the Blizzard classic Diablo on GOG.COM.

Originally developed by Synergistic Software and released in 1997, Hellfire was not an official Blizzard product and did not carry Blizzard’s endorsement or label. Despite that, in response to Diablo players who have expressed a desire to experience the content, Blizzard has given the OK for it to be included as a free add-on with Diablo purchases on GOG.COM.

Hellfire offers a non-canonical single-player storyline where players must defeat a powerful demon named Na-Krul who is threatening Tristram. The expansion also adds a Monk class, new weapons and items, new missions, locations, dungeons, and enemies. Hellfire will be accessible while launching the original Diablo.

The Hellfire expansion comes with high-resolution support and compatibility updates to allow it to run on modern systems, and it’s available now as a free add-on for everyone who purchases the Blizzard classic Diablo. The game is currently 10% off during the Summer Sale Festival until June 17, 10 PM UTC.

paladin181: Hellfire is like an extra squirt of hot diarrhea. But those who were feeling like the product was incomplete without it can celebrate at least! I'll take the unofficial mods any day before the semi official ex-pack. But hooray, it was FREE and it's added for everyone! I expect those who were holding off on purchase because of this to jump onboard!!

Thanks for releasing this though.
Never felt it was incomplete, only problem i had is that the game would not run without overheating the CPU , thats why i got a refund in store credit, which i saved to buy another game Pathway, and Pathsway is never really fixed, still can't run it so i took the game as a loss :D.

It would be nice if EA and Ubisoft, would give GOG everything so GOG can fix the games to work 100%,every old game like jagged alliance works a charm, seems diablo and other EA games arent fixed properly ( maybe because EA didnt give all the code?)
.
Would be great to have a copy of RA2 + expansion, c and c games ( every 2d game i would buy instanly) Dune, Dune 2000, properly fixed, cause as it is now we only have many fanbased fixes and i tried all, NOTHING works, Dune, Dune 2000, RA2 , even the socalled fixed RE2 and RE3 do not work.

If the companies would just hand over everything so GOG can fix the games like they fixed every other GOG game i have that work a charm. My only hope is to be able to run the socalled fanbased fixex of many old EA games to run on horrible win 10 ( which i will have to get for my PC new build), maybe then i can finally play ebery good game, tbh many of the latest 2015 games and up are pretty average, i want to play my old games again.

Anyway i fear this will never happen.... so i am stuck with lots of games i cant run.....
ahwell...

Back on topic again:D
nice to see Hellfire here.... maybe someday i might be able to run them on my new winddoze 10 machine... who knows?

Mr.Mumbles: Must be Genital Jousting. =P
I love that game!

Such a deep and meaningful story :)
Thanks GoG. I was just rummaging through some old games and ran across my copies of Diablo 1 and 2 and there was Hellfire. Now, thanks to you, I can play it again. Diablo 1 and 2 are a couple of the best games I ever played and it's going to be fun around the old computer. I hope Blizzard will let you release Diablo 2 soon.
Now, could you please also bring, Diablo 1 soundtrack and Warcaft 2 soundtrack? Half of what those living legends are, is obviously, that ost of theirs...

Truly amazing work! This was *just* requested recently, too... I, for one, am grateful. Thanks, GOG!!
This has got to be one of the nicest surprises of the year. Thank you GOG and Blizzard!
I was super hyped for Diablo2 after playing Diablo1 for at least 1000 hours back then, but when D2 got released it was not as good as the first game. I mean, it was not bad but it did feelt under whelming for some reason. The monsters looked more like random fantasy monsters than actual Demons, the horror elements were dropped considerably and it certainly was not as Dark and Gothic as the first game. Diablo2 was ok, like a 75 out ot 100, but Diablo1 it was like a 94 out of 100.

There were some good parts in Diablo2 like the Monastery, that part totally feelt like Diablo1. Scary, Dark and Gothic. Also Act4 Hell was good.

Thank you GOG for bringing Hellfire to Diablo. Now please bring us Diablo2. Make it happen please.

PainOfSalvation: Makes you wonder - Why did GOG released Hellfire today and not tomorrow 06.06. (also classic Thursday)? Would be more appropriate unless.. they have something else prepared for us? *wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more*
SOme people are never fucking satisfied.....

Gee, not even a "thank you Gog" after all the times you ferociously demanded they bring Hellfire?

Tough crowd, this one...

°smiles° Thank you, GOG-People
If THIS is an example of the possibilities resulting from dropping
the "1 euro is not 1 dollar"-Initiative, Yahllelujah!

Not that i actually was against dropping that generous, fair, yet silly economics-wise
Thingy. Gamers commonly buy (even pre-order!) (bad) games for SIXTY bucks.

Go ahead, GOG, make my day as good as this one any day :o)

°grins°
Now... how about striking a deal with David Lagettie and Sid Meier to get us
Gunship 2000 + Mission-disc/editor as you (apparently) did with F-117a Stealth Fighter?
Only thing I would say that is missing is a Hellfire wallpaper included with the goodies. Still can't complain too much about it as I'm just really happy that a complete version is finally released. Awesome job to everyone at GOG for making this happen. You guys rock!

I posted already a GRATS and a THANKS, like ~3 times in (sub)forum...

And my "thanks" was actually buying both those two and a nice pile of games, totalling roughly to 100 bucks!

Never let anyone say i don't appreciate "good business"! Demanding ferociously those extras before; now, look how many benefits brought, for everybody! And i am willing to spend more, if i am adequately serviced!

Another proof that sometimes the exciting stuff happens silently behind the scenes. :)
Thanks so much, GoG!
This, this is why people like GoG.

People were all "aw wish we could have Hellfire as well" and not only did GoG deliver they also just gave it away to those who bought Diablo rather than treat it as an excuse to fleece customers for more money.
