dr.schliemann: Ah the great Sovietstar!

I love it! And I'm stealing И Синистар for my tagline while I'm an honourary proletariat! :D

EDIT: Or I would have, if the extended characters would work. Ah well, I still enjoy the lyrics and the song!

IAmSinistar: A thread to help me keep my GOGmix up to date. Hopefully it will remain short, with needed updates infrequent.

Age of Wonders 3
Age of Wonders 3 - Deluxe Edition
Unfortunately, it sounds like they plan to regionally price the entire catalogue at some point.

The good news is that the list will be easy to maintain, you'd only need one link:

Yes, I'm concerned about that too. Though for the purpose of this list I will probably still maintain it for games that are priced in markedly different fashion between regions. The standard pricing of the classics will result in some discrepancies in what everyone pays, but the attempt there is at least to have all the prices be nominally the same in value. Titles like AoW3 are (for now) still the exception, where the price is grossly different between regions, and deliberately so.

Yeah, I know. I was just making a depressing joke. =(

Understood. But you had a valid point in there, and one I have been thinking about as well. I was hoping this list wouldn't be need much, but I neglected to consider the grimmer potential of that wish. :/
More oddities - the screenshot shows what I see when not logged in.

Which country gets the 23.99€ price?

precipitate8: When you guys pay in euros, do you pay vat on top of the list price or does the list price include vat?
On GOG, we don't pay in euros... checkout happens in $ which means we pay a fee (2.9% + 0.30ct last I checked) for conversion, no tax on top of course. That would be illegal.

GOG is (for tax reasons?) situated in cyprus, and EU law says, that a consumer shown price is a compound of actual price and vat. It is absolutely forbidden to advertise with prices not including VAT in the EU to EU customers.

In European store prices listed ALWAYS include VAT (or a store chooses to display both prices, but the final price has always to be listed.

You see a Euro price on the front page? That's... weird. I live in Euroland and I'm logged in. But I see AoW 3 for $39.99 on the front page. Only when I click it, it is €39.99 on the game page.

When logged in, I also get the $39.99 price tag, but I when logged out not - the screenshot speaks for itself, and that's why I said "more oddities".
What I hate most is the bucket-like treatment of customers. You live in country A so we don't care what currency you use, you'll be now euros...

True, I mean I live in Greece, why did I have to pay in $? Not to mention the UK, Denmark, South Africa, Greenland or Antarctica. Why pay in a specific currency?

But then it was $ for everyone. Now it will be an arbitrary assignment of currencies.

Trajhenkhetlive: Is there a way to know if back catalog games were regional price? It was mentioned that if an older games contract gets renegotiated, regional pricing might be implemented on those as well.
Maybe someone clever from the internet will in due time setup a website that tracks prices of games on GOG on daily basis and with different IP's to give a history and a map of GOG prices. It's sad that such work seems to be necessary but such sites exist for Steam and so the chances are good they come up for GOG as well.

As a temporary fix, just use a free proxy from US/UK/Germany/Poland/Russia to check the gamecard and see if the prices are the same. There is a good chance that these countries do not belong in the same category. Most probably it will be Germany>UK>US>Poland>Russia for some inexplicable reason.

So if everything was priced in €, it would be better? Or would the US complain that it's not $?
In both cases, quite a few countries would be arbitrarily assigned to a currency other than their own. So the only difference is what currency you pay in. My suggestion of using handjobs as currency was rejected though, so I can't help.

But then they shouldn't try to justify it as if it would be to our advantage. It is not.
