hedwards: Considering that there was some talk of them officially looking into the possibility of abusive downmodding, it was completely appropriate to make note of the fact that allowing a far left ideology to have protection not available to other groups of extremists is problematic at best.
SirPrimalform: I'm going to regret stepping in here, but seriously how is feminism in and of itself "far left"? Even radical feminism (which seems to be what you think feminism means) isn't "far left", it's nothing to do with left or right.
EDIT: Also I really need to go to bed so I won't be checking this thread again tonight. Will reply tomorrow if it hasn't been locked.
It may be an American thing what's left/right in one area may not be in others. But, traditionally in the US, it's been aligned with the far left as opposed to t he right which is much more interested in traditional gender roles.
hedwards: I'm not sure what the abuse was, but when posts like the OP come up, sometimes people in the past have used bots to downrep the post into oblivion.
Personally, I'd be uncomfortable with not being allowed to downrep posts pushing feminism as posts pushing other forms of supremacy aren't afforded that level of protection.
Symphony8: I agree that posts pushing feminism shouldn't be protected from down repping (even if it's a soft form of protection by the baleful scoldings from the SJWs), hence my comment on the apparent double standard that some people have when it comes to down repping.
But the reputation system really adds nothing to the community and only fosters animosity and bitterness. It should be replaced with an option to ignore users altogether (not just conversations).
I don't really care whether feminism receives protection or not as long as other similarly controversial ideologies are treated the same way. One of the reasons why things are so bad for men in an increasing portion of the world is that it's not equally acceptable to push back against the nuttiness. People have come to accept it as true because it's not generally safe to hold them accountable for the lack of evidence underpinning their beliefs.
