Ice_Mage: There's no CPU temperature in there. If it's in the original file, then I guess Pastebin ate it. In that case, upload the file directly to a host of your choice, like Mediafire.

If there's no CPU temperature in the original file either, first double-check that you're using the latest drivers, 22.2.2. Then double-check the aforementioned logging settings under Performance - Metrics - Tracking.

pds41: We will then want to know what impact this has on the GPU temps (and fan speed on the extract)

Ice_Mage: Tweaking GPU/CPU cooler settings is all well and good, but it doesn't change the fact that the computer case is currently a convection oven. I don't even know what's happening to the hard drive(s) under load after prolonged use, because OP wouldn't run CrystalDiskInfo. I'd buy the maximum of 2 × 120mm (12cm) 4-pin case fans ASAP.
You're right - but I'm also worried that the GPU fan isn't starting until it hits 80 degrees. I'd expect at least some cooling before that - although I'm not that knowledgeable about AMD chips.

I do agree that maximum cooling is the way forwards. My case uses 3x 120mm fans in a push-pull configuration. When I did my latest build and forgot to connect two of them up, I noticed VERY quickly.

A push-pull configuration is putting fans on both sides of a radiator or heatsink.

Maybe, but you know what I mean.

I don't and I don't care. This boring subject has exhausted its tiny relevance.

Ah, that's not my problem. Now let's get back to helping OP shall we?

do you have any recommendations on what brand to get?
avatar
kmanitou: Reading this has been "amusing".

The MSI Armor is one of the worst coolers out there, you're cooking it in that case without airflow. Do as suggested above with the custom fan curve and create a clean airflow from front to back in the case, two fans will be enough.

In the meantime, you can simply remove the side panel.

the case also has a top and front vent spot. i could take those off instead of the side panel as you suggest.

no CPU temp in the original file. i just use what amd recommends for their drivers. 22.2.2 would mean i have to change to recommended + optional. so i'll go do that.

i just updated to 22.2.2 and checked performance, metrics, then tracking and the only thing cpu shows is utilization. nothing else.

You could use MSI Afterburner to log as you've got it installed. If you go to the options, it's in the "Monitoring" section and select "Log History to file". You might want to set a key combination to start logging (e.g. CTRL+ALT+`).

Regarding case fans, there probably isn't a great deal of difference. Personally, I use Antec Tri-Speed fans as I've got an old Antec quiet case. You might want to check how they mount in your case before purchasing (I think most screw in, but some used to use clip type systems. I haven't bought a case in about 15 years, so not overly sure!)

I haven't checked your case, but ideally you want to mount them so that they pull air in through the front and push the air out the back and top if available. I have a fan pulling in the front operating on "fast" mode, one pushing out the top on "medium" and one pushing out the back, also on "medium" (would boost to high if I had overheating problems).

If you don't want lighting effects,
be quiet! Pure Wings 2 120mm PWM (model no. BL039). Airflow 51.4 and noise level 20.2. Currently $10.90 each on NewEgg.
• Another option is CL-F082-PL12BL-A. This is a 2-pack from Thermaltake, same brand as your case. Maximum air flow 58.35 and noise level 22.3. Currently $35 with free shipping on NewEgg.

If you want lighting effects,
• It seems the Thermaltake Pure A12 is the one for you. It's a single color per fan, but it comes in multiple colors. Air flow 56.45 and noise level 25.8. Currently $14 on NewEgg for the white, blue, and green ones.

• Remember your motherboard lacks ARGB support, which requires a JRAINBOW connector. You only have a single RGB LED connector, which doesn't seem to come into play with the aforementioned Pure A12.

Dang. It must be a limitation of having an Intel CPU.

Do you mean Antec TriCool? I'm surprised they're still available for purchase anywhere.

Yes - those are the ones. I think I bought them AGES ago. They do the job though.
i ordered 2 fans that you suggested, ice mage, of non-lighting ones with the same brand as my case, thermaltake.

pds41: i created two profiles that you suggested on msi afterburner but have yet to try them out. ice mage's suggestion of adding two more fans has made me hesistant about trying further testing on GSS.. I might just wait until the fans i ordered arrive. Hopefully they'll be here within a few days.

Makes sense. Get the fans, get them installed and then re-test. Key thing is going to be making sure you log the temps once you've put the fans in.

If it works and doesn't overheat, then take off the framerate cap and re-try.

If it still crashes, then we need to think about what to do next.
got the fans today. took me a few hours to put in them in due to the manual being missing from the box that the fans came in. then i put one in the front and decided i put it in wrong. changed it. and then the top.. took me a while to figure out because well, the long screws couldn't attach the fans and the short ones at first made me feel like they didn't fit.

i looked around on my phone and then found some metal attachments for screws from an box from the build. They worked and i was happy only for the top of the case to not close.. damn things were too big (tall) so i took them off and put in the short screws no matter if they were straight or tilted. the fan stayed attached.

put the top back on. powered on. whew. amd overlay and task manager reported the temp to be 26C but that's probably because the computer was off for a few hours. gpu fan is also running abit over 4,500 RPMs. current gpu temp is 27C.

and this is all before testing GSS. which i am thinking about doing now..
first of few pastebins.. for some reason amd radeon software would turn off performance logging. so i had to start it up again..
