No Man's Sky a science-fiction game set in an infinite procedurally generated galaxy, is available to pre-order now — DRM-free on GOG.com

Intergalactic travel changes the notion of time. Unimaginable speeds connect impossibly distant worlds, dilating lifetimes, blending generations. A round-trip may find your world aged and unrecognizable, separated from your loved ones, irrevocably alien. In an intergalactic society, only the few set off towards the stars — explorers, those unafraid and with nothing to lose. They set off never to come back as far as our lifetimes are concerned. And thus, we still look up at an infinite sky, now within our reach, yet still untouched — a no man's land, a No Man's Sky.

No Man's Sky promises discovery of an infinite, uncharted universe. Its billions of stars, planets, unknown living creatures, breathtaking sights and lonely wastelands — all seamlessly connected — populated with explorers drawn to the distant mysteries of the horizon, eager to leave a permanent mark in their wake.
The frontier is merciless and dangerous. Exposed to a universe of extremities in your fragile suit and ship, you'll need resources and upgrades to get far — as well as the means stand your ground in fight.
Whether you journey to the center of it all or seek out the farthest reaches of existence, the trip will not be simple or dull. You'll catalogue things unseen, discover alien artifacts and reveal mysteries of the universe. If you survive.

The pre-order incentive for No Man's Sky includes the Horizon Omega ship — faster engines, better guns, all to kickstart your trip and help you survive longer on the interstellar journey.

Reach out and touch the No Man's Sky, available for pre-orders now, DRM-free on GOG.com! The game is scheduled to be released on June 21st in North America, June 22nd in Europe and Australia, and June 24th in the UK and Rest of World.

fishbaits: Release date re-re-re-confirmed as August 12th.

Also, apparently the delay (or part of?) was to add 21:9 monitor in game.

Got to keep that 0.1% happy I suppose ;p

Luned: I expect the Steam forums are going ballistic, judging by Reddit's reaction. GOG did us the service of changing the gamecard text pretty quickly when HG changed their website text, it's notably quieter around here.
I checked the subreddit to see what you were talking about. The unbridled rage some of the people there have over this is just crazy. There are people blaming Sony, people cancelling pre-orders, and generally just tantrum-throwing. I'm afraid to think of what the reaction will be if these people are disappointed by the actual game after all of the hype they've built up for it.
MMO Champ' forums has also been having arguments en masse, from those trying to claim NMS is an MMO, to others saying it isn't (it isn't lol) to silly things like save files being deleted or not once the game is properly live.

I'm running out of popcorn haha.

Probably because, unlike Steam, there is no subforum for the game quite yet.

That's not a problem, you silly mage. You can just create some more.

Which forum/game?
Interesting... I had no idea that unreleased games on GOG could have a subforum (with the exception of a game belonging in a series). Either my memory is failing me or No Man's Sky is an exception.

But the last time I /cast popcorn, I mis-cast & created even more rant threads.
I daren't risk that again ;)

Some ppl... whats massive on the one in a million chance to encounter somebody else on some godforsaken planet?

Add to that that the only interaction afaik is shooting at each other.

It does not even has character generation/customization/genders. Not that I mind if it would have that + 3rd person gameplay (at that point it will be most likely nearly the perfect game for me) ;)

I thought there was supposed to be an entire trader/merchant element and that you could play being an intergalactic goods dealer. maybe I'm thinking of something else

There is a trading element, but it's not player-to-player trading. From everything that's we've been told so far, NMS is a huge universe in which you are effectively playing alone due to the distances between each player. At the start, players are randomly plopped down near the edges of the starter galaxy. In offline mode, you're definitely alone.

You should. Since each spell failure will result in more rant threads, it means even more Popcorn eating fodder, which in turn should motivate you to become better at your spellcasting.

I think they took right decision to launch game on 12 worldwide instead of region wise launch.
